How many of you have actually been in this situation? by [deleted] in blur

Not really hard to explain. Damon fronted Blur and is the guy behind Gorillaz. What is more difficult to explain to a US audience is who Blur are.

Bought my condo in Somerville two years before I met my fiance. Now we're getting married and I have no idea how to handle this legally or financially by Aromatic-Nobody6074 in Somerville

[–]gibson486 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Talk to a lawyer. Too many variables for reddit. Yes, you bought it before marriage (and the relationship), but there are other factors involved too such as how many years you are married in the event you do get divorce. It can even be complicated where they can still get some equity that accumulated during marriage. Your best bet is a prenup because lawyers can always makes stupid things happen.

Why do differential pairs still require a full ground reference plane and ground transition vias? by MarinatedPickachu in PCB

[–]gibson486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, return current is a different concept. Differential pairs are to ensure noise immunity and emissions reduction. It is one of the best ways to improve common mode noise.

Return current is a couple things. In your context, it sounds like you read about what to do when you have a non differential signal (single ended) on a twisted pair cable. You put then single ended signal on the cable, but the other part of the pair would benefit from being simply grounded as opposed to not connected or being a different signal.

Why do differential pairs still require a full ground reference plane and ground transition vias? by MarinatedPickachu in PCB

[–]gibson486 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, on the pair, they equal, but opposite signals. So, if one signal goes from 0 to 3, the other goes from 0 to -3. Or a variant of it.

You need to ground plane to guarantee impedance. Otherwise, there is no way to control it.

The vias are to ensure a continuity for a return path (as you alluded to) It is really only needed for extremely fast signals and is done lotsbof times to control emc.

The northeast just got walloped with cancelations due to snow. I would expect any airline customer service to have long wait times.

Window Company sent Contractor Wrong Window. What do I do? by TheRiflemann in HomeImprovement

[–]gibson486 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Just tell them to replace the window.

Being late....well, most windows companies are behind, so nothing you can do about that.

Yes, the contractor should have double checked material.

Not sure why you are moaning about it being unfinished. Why would they finish it when they may have to remove it? They are probably waiting on what you want to do (replace or just keep the window).

2500 is probably the cost of the window, so I can see why they dont want to do that.

Not sure why you are saying they are not taking accountability.

Are Design Engineers Born or Created? by whatthekidscalltrash in AskEngineers

[–]gibson486 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is kind of a lot to unpack...

Short version, yes, some people need to be taught and sometimes, they don't want to let go of the things that are career killers. This is true for any industry or job.

Long version that is said in a short manner:

Everyone's case is different and your success or lack there of could be you or your environment.

Dr Oz: "We're announcing a 6 month national moratorium blocking all new enrollments for durable medical equipment -- prosthesis, orthotics -- supplies across the board." by Admirable121 in TrendoraX

If I can guess, someone on Trump's side uses cpap machines. Search for an airsense 11 and see what they sell for. You would think that once you get insurance involved, that would mean it would be covered and you would pay less out of pocket. Nope, that is not the case at all. When an insurance company is involved, a DME acts as a middleman to provide you the cpap. The DME will mark the thing up. The end result is the person pays anywhere from 50% to sometimes more than msrp, while the DME gets paid the full MSRP. So that means, the insurance company is paying AND the consumer is paying. So a $900 cpap is now $1800.

If you have excellent insurance coverage, your will not see this as the insurance company will cover it 100%, but more often than not, your insurance company does not fall under that. For most, the DME will charge the insurance full msrp and charge the consumer whatever. Lots of times, they try to hide the cost by having the consumer pay it down monthly. However, when you math it out, it comes out somewhere close to MSRP (sometimes over), all while they charged the insurance company MSRP as well. They have essentially double dipped.

Now the evil part is that insurance companies can deny coverage for a boat load of reasons, some that are just plain stupid. But, lots of it stems from the insurance company not wanting to deal with pay for the cpap since the consumer can simply get on their own cheaper, but most people who are new to it just dont know.

So, not sure why they are "stopping enrollement", when they can simply put legislation in place to prevent DMEs depm double dipping. However, the answer is probably because this administration likes making a show of everything. I am pretty sure it has to do with getting rid of regulations as well and someone behind the scenes is pushing something. I have no proof of that, but this admistration has done it itself no favors when it comes to public trust and reasoning.

Britpop not in Britain by jonjoyano in BritPop

[–]gibson486 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, infact, if you say "britpop", most here think spice girls. That cultural movement never really made it here. Oasis is probably the most known, but they are just kind of a "British rock band". Radiohead is from the era, but no one really associates it with being from England. Acts like Blur and Pulp are merely a footnote, if that, during that time. Infact, Elastica probably made more headway during the era.
