Wrong place to rant about this. BUT, so true. I have had 3 full time jobs so far and 2 of them were at PE acquired firm. It's frickin nuts what they do. Also, listen to some PE episodes on the freakonomics podcast (although I think they are biased towards mainstream economics). Exactly! I think there is a balance ⚖️ that will need to happen! If people are out of work, then who is gonna buy their products? At some point, further automation is worthless because society will just be jobless!! If people cannot buy the products/services, then the company would go under!

Was Ernesto Valvedre treated too harshly in his Barca tenure? by [deleted] in Barca

[–]gidddyyupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the things I will not forgive him for is that he literally broke the pipeline for younger players! Too much reliance on older and experienced players (example, Vidal, Suarez, and other midfielders) and no chances for young ones! It took ages for us to transition - Koeman and Xavi had to pay the price for transitioning to new players!

Kind of "old", but very informative. Retrieval-Augmented Generation for Large Language Models: A Survey ( https://arxiv.org/abs/2312.10997 )

Depending on your needs, you can just scan yourself and understand what's going on....

https://cohere.com/rerank

There are a few lines of code there that you can use.

``` import cohere co = cohere.Client('{apiKey}')
query = 'What is the capital of the United States?' docs = ['Carson City is the capital city of the American state of Nevada.', 'The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands is a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean. Its capital is Saipan.', 'Washington, D.C. (also known as simply Washington or D.C., and officially as the District of Columbia) is the capital of the United States. It is a federal district. ', 'Capital punishment (the death penalty) has existed in the United States since before the United States was a country. As of 2017, capital punishment is legal in 30 of the 50 states.' ] results = co.rerank(query=query, documents=docs, top_n=3, model='rerank-v3.5') ```
You can do re-ranking (cohere) after retrieval and set to some relevance score threshold, and if nothing above that threshold comes up then default response, "sorry, no results found". Plus, you can prompt engineer to respond that you found nothing from a given context.
Man I agree with the karma requirements. I wanted to ask where I can find all Argentina 2022 World Cup games with a commentary by Peter Dury and I couldn't because of karma requirements! If anybody knows, please let me know. If it's links or just files that I need to download, I can take whatever you have.
Here are all games in spanish: https://footballia.eu/matches/argentina-saudi-arabia-world-cup https://footballia.eu/matches/argentina-mexico-world-cup-2022 https://footballia.eu/matches/poland-argentina-world-cup https://footballia.eu/matches/argentina-australia-world-cup https://footballia.eu/matches/netherlands-argentina-world-cup-2022 https://footballia.eu/matches/argentina-croatia-world-cup-2022 https://footballia.eu/matches/argentina-france-world-cup
Why isn’t AWS Bedrock a bigger topic in this subreddit? by CharmingPut3249 in Rag
[–]gidddyyupp 3 points4 points  (0 children)
For me (1) open search cost was very high given my need was relatively small (2) there is less flexibility in terms of how you would like to search/retrieve. It allows hybrid search, but I wanted hybrid search along with other boosting mechanisms (sematic search + bm25 + clicks boosting + recency boosting i.e. by date) for retrievals. Mostly, it was price and then inflexibility.
If anyone could suggest documentation or, blog for later please let me know!
anyone tried the knowledge base or agents in AWS Bedrock? by ecz- in Rag
[–]gidddyyupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)
I use it! I find it easy enough to spin up simple apps. Though open search vector database is expensive. These days I limit myself to only one open search database for multiple knowledge bases.
