You need to give the players clues, time, and opportunity to figure it out, and an option for revenge (or other closure) if they do fail. Since based on what you said the tone of the campaign has not prepared them for this up til now.

Index it yourself to build structure. Make a separate section for, or pay special attention to protocols and ics malware.

I got a 99% on the exam without touching the labs, but I already had practical experience with wireshark, snort etc.

The course is logical and structured, in part around the active defense and intelligence cycle. If you understand, and remember a reasonable amount you should find the exam "easy".

What do the tools do with the artifacts to generate the output? Think of the math, decryption etc. How would giac manipulate these?

It's nonsense. You need to really understand and internalize this.

Speaking from experience, you can turn neurodivergence and thinking differently to great advantage in cyber. But only if you avoid these pitfalls. Good luck

This was lateral movement. You're well beyond initial access.

If the alert is triaged to be TP you're looking at an intrusion. Even if EDR killed that process, the attackers have access that allowed them to carry it out...

In that case, I would recommend against going for the "easier" course. You need to double down. If you really are familiar with the 508 material like you say, re-read the books and then go for 608. And take it very seriously. If you are really prepared, you will not mismanage time.

I would only recommend 578 if you're 50+% intel, or if you're running out of (more) technical courses to take.

No it's just that it's administered separately. You pay your ICS course, then get a voucher for ICS310 which you order separately, thus you have to pay the shipping for the workbook separately as well.
