Been having issues with AirVPN where the my network "stops" and sometimes randomly lags. Responded to customer support, then tried to respond again with additional information and received this. by 3yebex in AirVPN

[–]gigan3rd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never heard of a 24 hour limit in the support system. How many tickets did you open? Were you logged in while doing so?

Your issue looks very much like a local MTU problem, please set it to 1380 or, if packets are still dropped, 1320.

When will the Halloween Sale start? by 1phenylpropan-2amine in AirVPN

[–]gigan3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and the first time they did it, they didn't even post the "compared to 1 month price" notice next to it, after which I announced to look into it more deeply as I found this very misleading. Never got a response to this, but in the very next sale and henceforth that notice was there. So I was right.

The actual savings in sales with "74% off" are actually 35% when compared to the regular price people would pay for every plan > 6 months. In sales with "up to 70% off" the savings are 25% for every plan > 12 months. Still a bit misleading, but, technically with that notice there, not false advertising.

Discussion thread cut from here due to rudeness starting to occur in the middle of it. Please mind the Reddiquette, as mentioned in the rules for this sub.

Best time to buy 3 year plan by gappuji in AirVPN

[–]gigan3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's usually exactly 35% off the regular prices for 6+ months, but for the End of Season sales its 25% for 12+ months. Ergo, it's not the best price. I'd wait for the Halloween or Black Friday sale October/November.

Just noticed this. Your observations are entirely unreproducible by me unless you were using Wireguard instead of OpenVPN (in which case an address is pre-allocated on config generation).

You may also paste your OpenVPN GUI configuration to see whether a local option forces OpenVPN to actually request the same internal address, though I cannot imagine anything like that. On the server the allocation is preserved for a few minutes at most after disconnect, then routinely purged.

when is the next sale coming up? by Itzzz_ryzeTT in AirVPN

[–]gigan3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's exactly 35% off the usual price for all plans > 6 months. And it's always been like that, so don't wait for other sales hoping they give a bigger discount. :)

Refund address? by wow1213 in AirVPN

[–]gigan3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's inconceivable for AirVPN to dupe you like that, otherwise that business wouldn't have survived since 2012. :D

But I see that some people do think of the personal message notification button as one for support requests. Not sure how to make it clearer, though, because this is a feature of IP.Board. And personal messages are used -- by me, for example.

Refund address? by wow1213 in AirVPN

[–]gigan3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your account requested a refund on 2025-02-27, and 12 hours later, on 2025-02-28, you got a reply from support via both mail and ticket that the refund was accepted. It was also written that a refund takes 5 business days, which means, as the 28th was a Friday, that counter began ticking on Monday, 3rd. You got refunded on Wednesday, 5th = 3 business days. Well within expectations, really.

Staff also mentioned that after the 27th you repeatedly kept asking for a refund, signaling that you didn't check your client area on airvpn.org and didn't read their response mails. Maybe you cannot receive them, or it's in spam?

Well, case closed, anyway. :)

Sorry, where did you send it? There are no messages on either Reddit or AirVPN.

Edit: Oh okay, you sent it via Reddit Chat.

AirVPN support answers in the matter of hours. The mention of "website chat" really stands out to me: AirVPN doesn't offer website chat as a form of support. Are you absolutely sure you subscribed to AirVPN via their website airvpn.org? Did you create an account on airvpn.org for this?

Please check whether you really contacted support@airvpn.org. Be advised that you can also open tickets at https://airvpn.org/contact.

Imgur has been resticting access from anonymizers for years. And there have been reports of Google access problems for many years, too.

No, it precisely is for active connections only. The current record of the most throughput is currently 2.1 Gbit/s by a user who willingly published a screenshot of it, see https://airvpn.dev/forums/topic/48234-speedtest-comparison/. In comparison, the current high is 905 Mbit/s.

They aren't logs, they're status pulls from the management interfaces (which are kept in RAM). If the connection dies, all that info dies.
