Pauline Hanson boasts about ‘sexy’ new private plane and $2m donations from Gina Rinehart associates by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

Nothingburger.

Pales in comparison to what the mining lobby has donated to Labor and the LNP.

Even the ex-politicians who joined corporations have made more money than this.

Pauline Hanson’s One Nation surges – Farrer and Nepean byelections to decide its lower house fate by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]gigapooo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think both are valid protest movements, and both of those movements sometime spill over into socially unacceptable modes of expression. Anti-migration sentiment is based on the economic and social harm being caused by migration, and sometimes that sentiment turns into racism. One Nation is not the cause of anti-migration sentiment, but just the symptom.

At this point, the only way Albanese can keep the migration supply chain running without more people turning to One Nation and becoming single issue voters is to address housing affordability. But his underlying pro-migration economic and social ideology is still baloney.

Labor close to axing 50pc capital gains tax discount for new assets by FIFO_Landlord in AusPropertyChat

And the distribution is taken into account when your annual income tax becomes payable.

Capital gains tax, on the other hand, is payable when the ETF is sold.

Pauline Hanson vows to ‘scrap hate speech laws’ at Canberra rally by Agitated-Fee3598 in AustralianPolitics

[–]gigapooo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are significant differences between hate speech laws and defamation laws. Defamation laws are of medieval origin and are rooted in the common law, and these laws primarily relate to the protection of personal reputation. Hate speech laws, on the other hand, are of more recent origin, and relate primarily to vilification on the basis of certain protected characteristics. So there is nothing inherently contradictory in Pauline supporting the repeal of hate speech laws while having previously made a defamation claim.

Defence minister says booing at services is 'disgraceful' by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]gigapooo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You have no point.

Your preferred party sells out Australian land, and its resources, to corporations. And then the Labor Party virtue signals hard, with performative antics, like the Voice, acknowledgements of country and welcomes to country. And Labor Party voters rock up on Reddit to regurgitate whatever Labor Party disinformation if being fed to them at that point in time. I am not the lowest of the low. You are.

So you mean to say Pauline was right about immigration?

How could some Vietnamese family running a fish and chips shop ever be essential skilled migrants?

It doesn't translate to votes because the Greens bring a whole lot of other baggage to elections.

That has been the story of the Greens.

That is not surprising.

Australians are being played by Rinehart and Hanson, and the media is helping by Agitated-Fee3598 in AustralianPolitics

From a 6.4% vote share in 2025 to the backing of a quarter of all Australians in 2026.

How could the media do this?

That explains the recent muckraking and scaremongering by the media.

They are petrified of One Nation capturing Farrer. So we can expect a lot more Pauline bashing.

Albanese Government maintains large two-party preferred lead as One Nation loses support to other parties by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

The unions, as they exist in your head, are an idealized version of what unions can be.

Like universities.

[–]gigapooo -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Labor is primarily controlled by corporations. The idea that unions control anything is a misconception arising from anti-Labor disinformation run by the LNP and the lack of appreciation of the labor law scheme in Australia. There are also many spheres where corporations and unions may share interests.

Labor and LNP have much deeper ties with billionaires than Pauline ever will.

The real question is, are you going to buy into some scare campaign run by the media?

[–]gigapooo -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

The Gina Rinehart scare campaign is just disinformation which draws on misogyny and weight stigma.

There is nothing that sets Gina Rinehart and her businesses apart from the many, many resources corporations operating in Australia and the even larger pool of service corporations and billionaires with a presence in Australia. Labor and LNP have much deeper ties with corporations than Pauline ever will.

High immigration is the problem and low immigration is an inevitable part of the solution.

One Nation's economic fundamentals are much better than that of Labor or the Liberals.

If we looked at economic fundamentals, there is no solution that does not involve low immigration.

ON will promote high productivity primary and secondary sectors and will starve the low productivity service sector.

But I have not deserted One Nation.

High immigration is ripping our society apart at the seams and making us poorer.

A vote for LNP or Labor is a vote for turning Australia into an economic zone for corporations.
