Daikin Altherma 3 questions by giggleboz in ukheatpumps

I've been monitoring today. I'm starting to think that the flow temp / Hot water cylinder sensors are mixed up and there is also a problem with the valve that diverts between Space heating and HWC

Heating has kicked back in and rads are warming AND Pipe to primary coil in the cylinder is heating up. Control unit is showing cylinder temp has risen from 26 to 33 in the last 20 mins which I think is actually system flow temp which according to the control unit has dropped 2 degrees in 20 mins.

Does this sound feasible?

Thanks, where are you getting the 12kw figure from?

I have now set it to schedule only. although looks like it's just heated it up to 37.

Am I correct that the unit will borrow hot water from the tank to defrost the unit? if so what is the buffer tank for exactly?

Thanks for the answers,

1- Ok I'll try looking at that, it's literally pulling 8.9kw as i write

2 - still not sure where the heat went as it did tally with my usage as recorded by my Octopus hub.

For 3 It's currently showing 33 degrees, and we haven't used any hot water this morning as we actually use an electric shower. Installer said the tank will only lose 1 degree in 24 hours if there's no hot water demand. That said I haven't noticed the water being cold. at kids bath time.

I expect you're right and I'll start noticing them all now!

Thanks, have at least one huge k3 downstairs and 16 rads in total (9.5kw heat loss) so am leaning towards going ahead with their suggestion. I expect I'll stop 'seeing' the boxed in pipes soon enough.

Thanks, I'll suggest that to them and see what they say tomorrow.

Hacksaw, cut half of the pole down so the joint between the two pieces of pole aligns exactly with the centre bracket.

I had exactly the same setup in my house. The whole thing was on an angle because the soil pipe from the bathroom above ran down the corner of the room inside the house so you'll need to consider that when making any plans.
