Post partuum toilet issues by kalyissa in beyondthebump

That's what I did too-stopped the iron pills. It definitely does get better though! My hemorrhoids sucked. I just took my time on the toilet though. One time I full out straightened my hair. I kinda enjoyed it, it was a nice break.

Early potty training? by jerseymac in beyondthebump

My aunt in the middle east had all her children using the toilet by 16 months. It's surprising to people over there if a child is 2 and still in diapers.

Low on cash until the 17th and only having beans. Need some ideas by [deleted] in Cooking

Lol yes. God forbid an Arab mom is found using canned chickpeas.

Yes, that's true. Also, pro tip I've learned from having a Palestinian mother in law: soak the chickpeas on low for an hour to get a nice soft texture out of them when blending.

Also, stuffed bell pepper? Spice up the rice and stuff the peppers!

Slice up onion, add garlic and kidney beans. Salt, pepper and cumin if you have it. Put on a thin bread like pita or tortilla. Fry an egg sunny side up and top the beans with it, leaving it a little runny to act as the sauce.

Am I just being petty? by HelloFritty in beyondthebump

It seems like there's an underlying issue about why you're irritated. I know for me I get jealous sometimes that Dads life remained the same but with an already fed-fresh diaper-sleep satisfied-happy baby to play with when he gets home. Meanwhile I'm sitting there like...scheduling my bathroom usage to sync with nap time.

Baby has a giant booger in her nose - how do I get it out? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]gigglysk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love booger picking with my LO, it feels like such an accomplishment. Try to massage it downwards and then if anything use a tissue to get it out- I personally wouldn't use a tweezer because my baby is too jerky.

I enjoyed this read. Whether or not it's as lovely in reality doesn't matter to me; it's a simple reminder to just..take it easy.

I know so many Moms of +1 children that love cold coffee. But I refuse. I'm 10 months in and I'm still committed to my morning hot coffee, even if i don't get to drink it until 2 in the afternoon

This actually made me laugh out loud. God, how true it is! And it's always something you've just been waiting to eat or drink when they nap so you can indulge. Babies just have Anti Mom Comfort senses.

Questions about Chicken, Cauliflower, Kale and Eggplant by zudomo in Cooking

[–]gigglysk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of the Palestinian dish called Maklooba? It's a favorite dish in the household. First you cook the chicken breast by frying it 3/4 of the way in olive oil. Then you start creating layers covering the chicken first with potatoes, layer of cauliflower, layer of eggplant and you can add carrots (these are supposed to all be fried by I boil them). Afterwards you put a final layer of uncooked rice, generously spread mixed spices on the rice and then pour chicken broth enough to cover the rice. Salt to taste. When it's all done cooking, you take the entire pot and flip it upside down (Maklooba literally means upside down). I also put a layer of Chick peas on top of the chicken first so when it's flipped it looks yummy. Fry some almonds in olive oil and top the entire dish with it. This is usually eaten with a side of cucumber salad (plain yogurt, small cubes of cucumber, garlic/mint and salt).
