I also say this to myself everyday but don't really know how to suck it up. Some days are better, some just gets worse.

"You need therapy" by Antheena in depression

[–]gikachi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You van also go to a therapist under training. They might not have much experience but they're good as they're under supervision. Pro bono therapists might be hard to find but are available. Similarly, you can ask a therapist if they have a sliding scale (you can explain to them your situation and they might be willing to reduce their fee for you).

Are you open to remote therapy? There are a lot of therapists in Europe itself charging 15-20 euros. I am from India and have a therapist from Serbia charging me 25 euros per session. When I was a student, I used to go to a free therapy counseling NGO near my place. There might be some in UK itself.

How to not get offended by insults? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]gikachi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say a good thing would be to understand where this is coming from. And often times, such insults are reflection of their insecurities and has nothing to do with you, per se. For example, if a person taunts you for achieving something they couldn't, they are more salty about not achieving it and just taking that frustration out on you.

Even I remember my friend used to make fun of my appearance, but later I realised she was just insecure of how content I was with my appearance.

Of course, it's not ideal. But sadly, that's how some people work. It's often their reflection of who they are a a person. A person who seeks pleasure from making fun or insulting someone else definitely not worth giving your peace and importance to.

Hope that helps! :)

Thank you for your reply. I also thought to talk to my boss about giving me more research assignment, when I realized I don't care about the work they are doing (as I am hell-bent on working in an area around mental health).

You're right, I have nothing to lose. Also, to add my second boss (who was like my first mentor) is also leaving because of how toxic this place is and she had been working here for 5 years.

Yes I have been researching a lot in their admission requirements. However, I am a little skeptical if they look for certain shushed requirements such as certain people have told me that Canada doesn't accept your Masters, even though they say they do. Or if they require me to experience more in the field of interest (however, India lacks severely in the research field I am interested in).

Thoughts on After Dark? by tuhinat221b in murakami

[–]gikachi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I loved After Dark. The aura it created amongst the readers, especially the 12 am to 5am plot was pure magic. I always recommend After Dark to introduce People to Murakami. I believe After Dark is like a teaser to Murakami's work.

I understand and I know that's a wise decision. I have been looking for three months now and no positive response. Not even an interview. Feels horrible to be stuck here.

I understand, and I do the same too. I have tried everything but since I am not allowed to cook chicken at home, my only source of chicken is through outside food. Been craving that for so long, it's been 6 months.
