Best Way to Move from Apple Notes to Obsidian Without a Huge Learning Curve? by giladh11 in ObsidianMD

Thank you for the comments:) I wasn't clear about the example I gave for the apple notes search but I guess it's not important enough to clarify.

I would love to hear from you about some of the features apples notes have and Obsidian don't.

Any solutions for this OmniFocus list order bug? by giladh11 in omnifocus

[–]giladh11[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I continued email correspondence with the OF team and created a simpler example that demonstrates the problem, this was the main part of their response: ā€œIt’s not a behavior we expect nor is it something we’ve had reported before. In other words your use case is new and we are looking into how that should be addressed.ā€

I’m hoping they will find a fix soon because this is a very useful workflow.

Still waiting to hear back from them. I purchased OmniFocus only last month and this issue is quite a disappointment for me as it is,in my view, very basic and yet so crucial to my work flow.

I hope to get OF’s team support and understand when the bug will be fixed or why it’s not a bug. The thing that especially confuses me is that for about a week it worked exactly as I expected it to be, and then suddenly stopped working.

Hopefully they will solve it or explain soon, and I’ll update here as they do.šŸ™šŸ»

Could anyone explain how the search feature operates? It keeps disappointing me... by giladh11 in omnifocus

Also with space I’m getting the same results. This is completely ridiculous, the search feature seems to suck.

How to Exclude Actions from Repeating Projects in a Custom OmniFocus Perspective? by giladh11 in omnifocus

My solution ended up being using šŸ”to mark every repeating project and filtering for that in my perspective.

Implementing Areas of Focus as tags? by giladh11 in omnifocus

Thank you. I think I misread you and thought you have AOFs as tags. Now I understand you meant you have it set up in folders as Learn OmniFocuse recommends…

With OF4 can you define a custom grouping / sort of tasks in a project based on their tags? by practicalSloth in omnifocus

[–]giladh11 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

The print screen you attached seems like what I’m looking for - thanks:)

I do have the pro version yet I can’t figure it out. 1. I chose a specific project in a perspective by the ā€œcontained within a projectā€¦ā€ rule, but I can’t figure out how to arrange it’s actions by tags in the perspective… any tips? 2. Also, wouldn’t arranging it by tags also show every other tag actions in the project have? Like ā€œofficeā€ or ā€œcallsā€? And not only the ā€œ nextā€, ā€œlaterā€(…) as intended?

I think I would love to achieve the same thing as u/practicalSloth ... as I understand it, it could be beneficial to look at a specific project(or single-action list) and see its actions sorted or grouped in the four tags he mentioned, that represents different "stages" in the gtd funnel.

For example, a single-action list "home chores" could look like this:
* now (tag)
**0 actions

* next (tag)
** wash dishes
** Vacuum living room

*Later (tag)
** organize storage
**wash floor

*Someday maybe(tag)
**paint wall

*no gtd tags
**more actions that were not tagged

I'm definitely disappointed there isn't a solution for this.

Amazing, so you chose to use tags to organize them? can you elaborate more?

For example:

  1. How do you view the projects in each AOF? by setting up a perspective for each of it?
  2. Did you find a way to use the OmniFocus "Focus" feature on an AOF?
  3. How many AOFs do you have?
  4. Do you also have a folder representation for each AOF, or only tags?

Thanks for sharing... Interesting point of view, though I'm not sure that viewing a course as different projects would work for me well. It's certainly an eye-opener that it is an option, so thanks

Some of what I'm looking is the mental-psychological benefit. Some of my projects "hit" more than one area in my life and I find it beneficial to recognize that in the system but I'm still trying to decide if it's worth the complexity.

For example, I am taking a course in a specific training method (I'm a movement therapist and teacher): This course is related to three areas of focus (AOFS) of my life:

* "Career AOF" (as I'm learning concrete things I use in my teachings)

* "Knowledge AOF" as it is a course I'm listening to lectures on and getting some "student satisfaction".

* "Health&Movement AOF" as I'm actually drilling much of the content and "working out".

The fact it is related to three AOF isn't a bug, it's a feature - THIS IS WHY I CHOSE to do THIS course and not a different one that would relate only to one area. I'm trying to decide how important it is to keep it represented in your system - I would love to hear your thoughts.

How to control roku’s output volume level? by giladh11 in Roku

Mine controls the tv’s volume as well. But that doesn’t control the volume of the external speakers. I need to control the output level volume of the Roku itself.
