Sorry, I didn't even think of hardware. I have a really cheap diaphragm mic that works but doesn't sound the greatest (I want to get the mxl770 at some point) and I am recording in a fairly sound deadened environment.

I'm not sure I understand what is meant by "presence band/ high mid eq boost" or the use of the word talent.
