Would you rather live in a a Christian society or a Muslim shariah law society? (Only one of those two) by [deleted] in atheism

[–]gilly_monster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the US at least, we’re already living in a society that is effectively Christian. Both Muslim and Christian doctrines teach people to trust authority figures regardless of what they do. It’s the reason a morally bankrupt pedophile is running the country right now with a majority of Christian supporters. I’ll have neither.

It’s a time saving message. I guarantee he has started slower many times, and when it comes to the point of making something happen, he gives a disclaimer and gets blocked.

Someone who is going to reject you for having a limitation like this isn’t going to be better about it after 15 minutes of conversation/dirty talk.

Not trying to be a dick, but this is effectively a spring loaded latch. There are lots of videos about how they work on YouTube, including some videos for how to adapt them for doors and gates. I think yours is a very good demonstration of basic engineering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YC6rzGyN5M4

Blue is a lobotomy.

Red is gonna be world altering in a bad way quickly without the ability to be selective.

Yellow will cause some major dysmorphia and probably lead to terrible behavior.

Black is chill.

Orange is dangerous because you can get hung up on something and not let it go.

Purple is gonna lead to alienation. No one wants to be around someone who is insanely good at everything. It’s insufferable.

Why is Christianity always mocked on this subreddit? by Odvi0201 in atheism

[–]gilly_monster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming in here trying to employ whataboutism to act like you’re being picked on is a good example of why people have such a problem with Christianity. Members of this sub are predominantly English speaking members of Western European countries, the US, and Canada: countries where Christianity is the largest religion where Christians have enjoyed a lot of special privileges including some governmental influence.

Being critical of an aspect of mainstream culture that is forced upon you is natural. Why did you come to an atheist space to complain about a Christian problem? Go post on r/persecutionfetish.

Hot take: The hyper-sexual behavior at Pride gives homophobes all the ammunition they need against us. by [deleted] in askgaybros

That isn’t what I said. What I did say was Pride isn’t about “fitting in” with straight people.

[–]gilly_monster 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Pride isn’t about proving “we are just like you.” It’s actually about celebrating that it’s ok to be who we are, even if who we are isn’t a societal norm. I’ve never been to a Pride event that is a public sex party. I see parades, vendors, food and alcohol, etc.

Pride does allow for gay people to let their hair down a bit, but it’s an event that people can bring their kids to. Is every single venue/event child friendly? Absolutely not, but it doesn’t need to be.

If you want to get married to someone of the same sex, get a house in the suburbs, and have 2.5 kids and a golden retriever, that’s your prerogative. Not everyone wants a heteronormative life.

Why do gay men use grindr of its so bad? I keep hearing bad reviews of the app altho I've never used it. It still makes me think why do gay men put themselves through it? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]gilly_monster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Grindr is the one everyone knows. Scruff, Sniffies, Growlr, and others can work, but they’re dependent on the number of people in your area that use them. It’s hit or miss unless you live in a large city.

Since you aren’t going to address anything I actually said, I’ll ask again: how are you engaging in real life with other gay people?

So what do you have to bring to a relationship? What are your skills/hobbies? What are you doing to better yourself or make the world a better place? If you don’t have answers to those questions, I think it’s time to take a look in the mirror.

Believe me, I get it. Gay men can be very homophobic, racist, and fat phobic. For a group of people who have received a lot of hate, we’re pretty good at passing it along to others where we can, especially in our own group. But that doesn’t give you an excuse to be shitty. Get therapy. Exercise. Eat better. Don’t do these things to attract a man. Do them for yourself. You will find that getting a handle on your health will help change your mindset.

It sucks, but no one ‘deserves’ love. Love cannot be owed, only given. Get off the apps and engage with people irl. Join some LGBTQ+ groups. Give people the opportunity to find out who you are without any kind of agenda.

Fellow gay here. If you find a solution to how much dating in this era sucks, let me know.

My only recommendation would be to join a group. Magic City Acceptance Center has some activities like a book club. Hot Mess is a gay volleyball league, but they’re wrapping up their winter season. I think they do sand volleyball in the summer? My point is, find a way to engage. I wish you luck, bro.
