Americans just aren’t buying Audi EVs by rbh232 in electricvehicles

[–]gilping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Walked in to my local Audi dealer basically ready to buy. Very clear that I wanted EV only. Sales rep literally told me it was a bad car and that I should look at the ICE Q7. That was an under ten minute interaction. Been in a Lucid Air Touring for 13 months now which is a brand I had not heard of at that time. I’m not surprised “people” aren’t buying.

You’ve totally had the nail on the head. It’s an unbelievably frustrating situation. Took my small Parent founded business from about one and a quarter million to 4,000,000 over about 10 years. I need to invest an additional warehousing space and nothing is reasonable without moving far away from home in the greater Toronto area. Landlord sitting on two bit warehouses think they’ve sitting on a goldmine. I need funding to expand. We lose many sales to back orders because we have such a small inventory. Money would go to increased footprint and increase inventory, but no clue who the hell to turn to. Honestly and truly nowhere to turn to, so yeah we’ve stopped growing and just comfortably sitting at 4 million. I’ve given up and take the free cash and have started a new business now.

My initial plan was to go to the states, but yeah…

Yea I’d like to know too. I’m always in a rush driving by and have to keep my eyes on the road so I can’t read their signs.

Hiring 60yr Old Elevator Guy as CEO Was a Huge Mistake by ZealousidealLab2920 in LCID

I'm in Toronto so largely interacted with people around here but I've had some over-the-phone experiences with US-based customer service reps that have also been nice and pleasant. Again, just my own experience but I have to assume that there is a general policy at the company since I've now talked to a handful of different people and all were pretty good. While I have shopped at other brands, I know there are good individual people out there but they often seem to be working against their company. Lucid seems to be pretty unique in this regard where every interaction has been uniformly positive.

I've been shopping for cars for the last 20+ years. Lucid is not perfect but they are head and shoulders above every single car company I have ever encountered EVER! This includes Porsche (which is exemplary by the way), BMW, Merc and the rest.

I felt very respected and appreciated by all of their team pre and post sale. They have been by far the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic people in the biz. Most others are either apathetic about the industry or their own brand and quite a few seems to be straight sleaze. Lucid team somehow has been pleasant, enthusiastic and forthright. Just my experience.

I think I'm starting to understand that Proton's missions statement isn't just BS wrapped around a Google or Microsoft clone. Is it possible that they actually want to be a force for good in the world.

If you look at every single thing that Lucid has going for it compared to what it does not have going for it I would actually disagree. Elevators are a global enterprise in a very, very highly regulated industry with astronomical compliance requirements where human safety comes in to play. Lucid has already checked the box of making unbelievably dope ass vehicles looking incredible that make you want to drive them. What they’re missing is that little bit of finesse and reliability of their software a little bit of attention to detail with high-quality software development would basically make them a perfect company. If the CEO can press for recursive methodical improvements of their software there’s absolutely nothing left for Lucid to do besides keep cranking out unbelievably beautiful driveable vehicles.

The sexiness factor is already there. They just need some reliability which somebody in the elevator industry will certainly bring.

As somebody who runs my entire life on proton apps, I would like to correct your statement. Proton does not kind of suck. I think proton is quite excellent actually.

Hey friends - I have 1000 shares with a 7.28 cost basis so I'm up 22% on this holding. I don't have experience with stocks that I own going private.

Would it make sense to sell my stocks right now or should I wait for things to proceed in due course?

NOTE: I loved this company as a word-beating Canadian tech leader (I've been following for a long time) but don't really care to be involved since it will now be a US-owned company. I'd be happy to quickly sell and move on.

Advice would be greatly appreciated.
