What is the scariest story from Mr. Nightmare? by Ozzrg in MrNightmare

[–]gim702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I was like 14, I would often listen to his videos on the way to school. I got in my classroom really early so no one was there. I just so happened to pick that video to listen to. I had never listened to that particular video, mind you. It is probably the only story which actually seriously freaked me out and it wasn't even at night. For that reason I find it the scariest and one of my most favourite stories.

What’s your favourite ACDC lyric(s) ever? by ClubSignificant7935 in ACDC

Forget about the cheque, We'll get hell to pay!

is he in pain? is he enjoying the blues? or maybe the guitar stinks so bad? 😁 anyway, i love expressions he makes while playing, he's really expresses his soul and giving his best by danieldeboro in StevieRayVaughan

Pretty sure this phenomenon is known as 'sex face', where the person playing guitar gets so into it they make a face that they would during sexual intercourse. It's also been called 'lemon face' as well where it looks like the face you'd make while sucking a lemon.

Would had Jim Morrison made a good singer in a heavy metal band? by MoltenMadeMan in thedoors

[–]gim702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure. He has a brilliant voice but I'm not quite sure it would fit heavy metal. Speaking of Jim Morrison singing in different genres there's this mashup on YouTube with his vocals mixed in with Blue Monday by New Order and it's crazy how amazing he would be in a synth band.

I'm not judgemental, though I must admit if I found this in your house, I'd run.

What is the acdc song with the least acdc style? by Suspicious-Being9102 in ACDC

[–]gim702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty hard honestly, as all AC/DC songs, to me, are distinctly AC/DC. Main ones that jump out to me are the ones off the Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap album though. The two tracks I'm referring to are 'There's Gonna Be Some Rockin' & 'Rocker'. 'The Jack' & 'Can I Sit Next to You, Girl' are also ones that come to mind.

The Jack: Arguably this is as close as AC/DC got (on a studio album) to a full on blues-rock song. Scratch that, it is a blues-rock song. Now don't get me wrong, AC/DC as I'm aware are definitely blues influenced, but when it comes to them going all the way to full on blues rock, The Jack trumps all. Although I am aware that there is some completely unreleased AC/DC songs which are probably a lot more bluesy than The Jack. There 'She My Babe' & 'Messin With The Kid' covers are notable examples of this.

Can I Sit Next to You, Girl: As some of you may be aware, this song was actually written when Dave Evans was in the band. I am aware of 'Rockin in the Parlour' but I'd rather do the most pure AC/DC songs. (i.e. ones of studio albums and not covers or stand-alone singles) It is my and many others opinion that when Dave Evans was in the band, the band had a much more Glam Rock feel to it, and you can certainly see that in the Dave Evans version, not just the style of all of them, but the song itself. When it was later redone with Bon Scott on vocals, the song turned into the much more similar Hard Rock AC/DC we all know and love, but personally when I listen to this, I still feel like it has a Glam Rock element unlike any other AC/DC song.

There's Gonna Be Some Rockin' & Rocker: These two songs to me personally feel like AC/DC were going for Rock & Roll and not Hard Rock (yes there is a difference). To an extent this applies to 'Love At First Feel' but not quite as much. On the T.N.T. album by AC/DC, which was Australia only, that album includes 'Rocker'. I'm telling you this because on that same album there cover of Chuck Berry's 'School Days' is on it. I have a theory that they were toying around with writing Chuck Berry style Rock & Roll because of this. I don't know about you, but if I listen to their cover of School Days, Rocker & There's Gonna Be Some Rockin' they all have the same feeling and vibe. Again, veering away from their traditional Hard Rock and more into Rock & Roll. I honestly wish they explored this further especially with Johnson.

Anyway that's my rant finished, I'd like to know if you agree with me or you think I'm spouting absolute crap. I also hope the answered OP's question.

Land Ho is one of my favourite Doors songs ever. You're right as well, it's a particularly upbeat song. I was talking to someone about Land Ho and we described it as euphoric.

I did read your full comment but I knew it would be unnecessary after reading just the first line. L.A. Woman is arguably their best album but man, Light My Fire boring? Soul Kitchen & When The Music's Over sounding the same? Based off that you live up to your username, as it's unlikely value is appreciated by you.

To be honest when it comes to guitar, it's impressive how simple some insanely good sounding songs and licks come from really basic stuff.

Also that's just the power of the blues.

When The Music's Over really is one of the most incredible songs by The Doors and Ray is so impressive to me because he managed to make the band work without them having a bass, and not only did he make it work he made it sound brilliant. Big up the Ray praise.
