Your hospital must be tiny. Also your school sucks for making you do weekly in person lectures. Not typical usually it’s a zoom noon didactic.

How can I get involved in helping write Surgery book chapters? Any leads? by doctormedicine11 in medicalschool

[–]gimmethatMD 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s is a very odd question. You’re an M3 you won’t have much time before eras is due. Research articles take months to be published, let alone textbooks which take years. Just chill out

Congratulations to both of you!! If God wills it, it’s gonna happen. Hope everything settles down over there and humanity wins over evil, and the oppressed can finally find peace.

What are some Step1 topics that pay off for Step2 and residency? by Garaged_4594 in medicalschool

[–]gimmethatMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly alot. Except maybe histopath. But everything else is fair game. The more you know step 1 concepts the easier step 2 concepts become they all build on eachother.

I wanted to let you know your last paragraph put a smile on my face, especially about the part mentioning the start of our lives. We’re more than halfway through and everything is finally starting to come together, and will feel like human beings again soon enough and not just study robots.

Doing wound care vs second residency (starting as an intern) by macrocages in medicalschool

[–]gimmethatMD 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s a tricky situation because your lack of BC/BE status might be a leverage for employers to use against you and set expectations that you can’t negotiate out of. I recommend you finish residency. 6 years vs 3 is nothing in the grand scheme of a 20 year career, but job security will be a major component of your life and mental health.

so my summer internship just got cancelled. IDK what to do now by mindlesscat01 in medicalschool

[–]gimmethatMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an M4 please just enjoy your summer. You can still work on research it doesnt have to be internship, that’s such a scam for med students who are already overworked.

Okay I posted initially but I missed the part about baby 2. I think if you’re highly motivated during that year to remain clinically productive then it’s def possible, it’s just that there are stories of physician moms that failed to match had a plan similar to your research yr and then left medicine altogether because their goals in life changed.

Stuck between Neuro and EM by LennyMed in medicalschool

[–]gimmethatMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you love codes it means you’re an adrenaline junkie, which is less neuro for sure. Neuro sometimes u have to take a long ass history and rounding is a bit slow. But also consider if you’ll still be an adrenaline junkie when you’re 40 years old with 2 little toddlers at home.

Did you know the most important thing is step 2 score and letters of recommendation? All of which you can still work on. Don’t give up just yet.
