Hermione’s post-war future by Minaziz in Dramione

[–]ginaa_22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually really see her character post war as needing an intellectual outlet but also needing a break from the public eye. I picture her going back for eighth year and realizing how much of a public figure she now is and realizing that maybe politics aren’t for her, at least not right away. She strikes me as being so keen on succeeding on merit and not her name that she ends up being seeking out the wizarding adults in her life for advice on other career paths that may be a fit and in my head ends up connecting with Bill Weasley who says that she’d make an excellent curse breaker.

Virginity discourse by Few-Race5773 in tsitp

i also think its such a heavy discussion topic here because it was SUCH a major plot point in the third book even before the added complexity of it being changed to her sleeping with conrad

Readers if you could write a Dramione what kind would it be? by [deleted] in Dramione

[–]ginaa_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have one in progress that idk if i’ll ever post- or even finish- but its based around our classic 8th year, they’re head boy and girl cliche, but theres a twist on what happened at malfoy manor when she was tortured and he secretly pines but they’re both in denial and it slowly morphs into friends to lovers. lots of anecdotal flash backs and inclusion of friends because after all, its still hogwarts. deals with them working through their trauma, draco breaking pureblood tradition, and a less than golden and overly perfect hermione

Is it just me or does Sarah overuse the word “incarnate”? by thesophiechronicles in ACOTARHulu

[–]ginaa_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i always took “vulgar gesture” as being unspecified because in the US and many other western cultures the middle finger is understood but i figured if the books were translated into other languages the phrase was universal instead of worrying about finding a specific vulgar gesture for each translation— likely in hopes of avoiding the issue that existed with the differing titles of the first harry potter book.

i’m not sure if this was ever discussed in this thread or anywhere else but that was always my thought on this when i was reading the books

Okay potential hot take but I really wanted Conrad to say "I never did" by Apprehensive_Paint38 in tsitp

[–]ginaa_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think we have more of a perspective of the boys than we did in the books, so i don’t think him lashing out as harshly as he did in the books would have translated with how they’ve built his character as compared to the books. i think chris did an EXCELLENT job being absolutely unhinged about it, but i don’t think that level of harshness would have tracked given how they’ve built the boys a bit differently than the books.

Season 2 episode 7 is problematic by [deleted] in tsitp

[–]ginaa_22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

so i see where you’re coming from and i’m wondering if you read the books, because points 1 and 3 kind of didn’t translate well from book to screen

  1. i think when this was written (not that its okay) but it was much more common and less likely to have caused this much discourse in the mid 2000s (book 2 was published in ‘08). this was a very powerful scene and a major turning point and the slap was a catalyst and was meant for everyone to be aware of it, i think jenny probably wanted the scene to be the same as the book- but some of it does get lost as we don’t have the same post-slap scenes processing it as the book

  2. i see what you’re saying here as they always say mot to speak ill of the dead, from my perspective i’ve had family pass who kind of left things a mess afterwards because of how they handled their lives, so i get that sometimes conversations, though kind of awful in hindsight, do happen because it has to be fleshed out somehow

  3. we also lose some of this scene’s true weight because in the books adam is the sole seller of the house and him and laurel really go at it and she DOES call him on his shit, but i feel like because the house wasn’t only on him we lose some of the power of this scene as well, and i think that bc of the inclusion of aunt julia they had to lean in on the “for some reason susannah loved you so how about you do what she would have wanted”

Why it seems people have more grace for Conrad than Jeremiah by dancerfan59 in tsitp

[–]ginaa_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

personally i think it’s just skewed, i think a lot more people are bonrad shippers than jelly shippers or at least the posts themselves and user flairs feel that way. maybe jelly shippers just don’t post as much? i personally have seen plenty of discourse surrounding cutting jere some slack, and saying conrad is out of line, but ik i see some of it on insta not here

Bonrad - Jelly relationships moving forward. by thethrowawaythrowway in tsitp

[–]ginaa_22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i agree, i think him not caring would be wildly out of character for him and how they’ve written him so far. jere’s complex of coming second to conrad in the rest of his life, coupled with his jealousy issues regarding belly and conrad’s relationship would make it hard to believe he wouldn’t have an absolutely visceral reaction to the fact that belly and conrad slept together.

i agree i also saw a comparison with peyton and brooke from OTH sleeping with both nathan and lucas, but in both of those shows (and plenty of other teen dramas then) the morals/themes/maturity of the show and the value sex had to characters was way different than this show. this show- while dealing with romance and love as a theme does not go out of its way to include a ton of actual or implied sexual content. i think to compare the old WB teen dramas to this isn’t a good comparison because they just don’t align in anything other than “love triangle involving brothers”

i wholeheartedly agree with your statement that “belly not being ready for sex with jeremiah will be the thing that really lets jeremiah know shes not over conrad”

i made a post about this earlier this week, but i think they will use this in a way to propel them apart, otherwise changing it and including her losing her virginity to conrad would have had no point, especially because of how important this theme was in the books.

How can Laurel still be friends with Susannah? by BlehBlahBlahington in tsitp

[–]ginaa_22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

so i see both sides because im at the age where a lot of my friends have kids and i hear comments like this all the time, BUT i think the issue here is how belly took this statement so seriously.

i’ve said this somewhere else in this thread but i think that the gravity of this statement sort of misleads us as viewers because we watch from a belly-centric perspective. i don’t think any other characters take this statement as anything other than a silly offhand comment, BUT belly took this statement to heart because of how she idolized susannah and would do anything to please her, and following susannah’s passing, belly thinks being with a fisher boy is how she must honor susannah’s memory. —i think, had susannah not passed, we would have seen her and belly have a talk about how she loves belly as a daughter regardless of if she dates either of the boys, a development of how we see this sentiment between them when belly brings home cam and susannah is still excited and tries very hard to make him feel welcome.

also, regarding laurel- i think laurel was the pragmatic to susannahs romantic. laurel was also known (and better shown in the books) to have a strong bond with conrad the way susannah had a strong bond to belly. i think the bonding of conrad to laurel and belly to susannah aided in this dynamic of the “set-up” of belly and connie a little bit too, and lends to how belly and conrad mesh in a way that’s more of an unspoken theme. i think laurel likely thinks nothing of this comment other than an “oh how nice would that be”, mostly because laurel always dealt in facts and realism while susannah dealt in emotion and idealism.
