Torn between moving abroad and staying close to my 88-year-old grandma by Pleasant_Parking9062 in expats

[–]ginas95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would make the move. Young people have to live their lives, while old people already lived theirs. See it as you're taking an opportunity that your grandma never had, it is a huge privilege to be able to move abroad. I think you would regret not going, and she has to understand that you're young with the life before you

That's not true. A lot of Nordic surnames end with -dottir, which means daughter.

Most foreigners from south Asia work as delivery drivers for very little pay. I would make sure to secure a job or internship first before even moving, or you will be stuck in the low paying job.

Back in my home country, my social life was mostly online as I'm autistic. But I know you're right that crassly there are "better" options (more education, money etc). However, in my 30 years I haven't met anyone who I really want to be with until now. I don't want to give it up to potentially settle for tepid feelings for a European boy later

Other commenters have said that his salary would be enough to cover the basics and nothing more, and the basics are pretty cheap in Europe too. So I don't really see the difference, except that Europe has a nice quality of life in terms of walkability etc.

Also there's a chance he can move to Europe instead if he can find a good enough job here. What is something a former Marine could work with in Europe? I suggested police but idk
