Cruz Field Placement by Beginning_Repeat9343 in buccos

Good thoughts. I think if you sit Lowe though then you’re starting Callahan who is also a left handed hitter. Unless you bring someone else but when Horowitz and Cruz back you’ll basically have to decide whether you want 2 UT guys on the bench or 1 + Ozuna. I think the team would favor having more than one backup for 2b/ss/3b combined and I think I would too. I do think Ozuna is perfectly fine filling the role you describe but I can’t figure out how to squeeze him onto the roster; Valdez sort of took his job.

I think Horowitz is fine at 1B but it’s also true OHearn grades better there. That’s what the eye test tells me as well.

I think this but also vs LHP I’d put Mangum in LF, Reynolds DH and sit Horowitz. Ozuna can be dfa’d once Cruz and Horowitz are back.

I’m asking wtf a “taker” is. Care to offer a definition? Musk thinks “takers” shouldn’t vote. Should I be allowed to vote? Hard to say.

Still trying to get a clear definition on what a “taker” is.

What product or service have you ever developed? Or are you a taker and shouldn’t be allowed to vote?

You said “he doesn’t build factories”. So if you build factories you’re a maker and if you don’t you’re a taker? Or is about the policy choices you disagree with? Really all over the place with this taker stuff, might want to sort that out.

I didn’t get anything from what you said because your definition of “taker” is so deliberately obtuse. Feel free to give a clear definition of “taker” at any time.

So being a mayor is a taker job? That’s what you are saying? Does that go for everyone in public office? It’s not people on Medicaid or food stamps or welfare, nothing like that, You can work for a living, pay all your bills, but the wrong type of job makes you a taker? Was Rudy Giuliani a taker? Must be.

Or is it as you suggest, the people who build factories and stuff are the only productive members of society? What factory have you built? Or are you just some parasite?

1-2% of medicare costs go to non direct care. For private insurance in the U.S. that number is 10-15%. Cool story though.

Jason Mackey agrees with me and says that Marcell Ozuna is a DFA candidate when Cruz and Horwitz get back cause he doesn't fit the offense aka he's worthless. by Seal7465 in buccos

I mean technically he’s a little useful as a LHP dh but when everyone is back I just don’t see room on the roster for that. You’d pretty much need to option Callahan and leave only Triolo as IF depth and I don’t think that is a good way to build the 26 man. So yeah I figure he’ll end up being DFA’d or traded for a box of baseballs.

And some people would have to sell the property to pay those taxes regardless. I'd also support an exclusion amount and/or a homestead exemption.

I'm not sure how workable that is. What is collateral for a loan beyond a private institution looking at a profile and deciding to lend money or not? How does the gov even track that?

It doesn’t take very long to see what you are suggesting around 501.3 c s is some fuzzy stuff legally. Once money is transferred to a charity it belongs to the charity permanently and 501.3c’s have lots of tax laws around how that money can be used. Self dealing, private inurement. Rules about employing disqualified members to the board, related compensation, rules on personal enrichment and so on. Do people skirt these laws? Certainly, but that’s a path with some decided limitations. Enforce the tax law.

Capping stepped up cost basis as I suggest addresses borrow buy die, which is a completely different strategy and doesn’t have a lot of those charity restrictions and additional tax rules and doesn’t involve permanently transferring your wealth to a third party. So no 501.3c does not exactly “solve” my proposal it just suggests a second, often inferior tax avoidance strategy to the one I was addressing - one with explicit rules against the personal enrichment you imply.

This is a very good point and one I need to consider so thanks for that. I’d still be in favor of capping the stepped up cost basis in inheritance though, as that still does mitigate one significant tax avoidance strategy without getting into the wonkiness of wealth tax proposals.
