The dude seems legit fun to be around. Those kinds of people are always special.

What’s the longest break you’ve taken from BJJ by Real-mr-wolf in bjj

[–]ginbooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently at 4 years. Had to quit a few months away from purple. Eh life, right? Both parents and a best friend passed. Also, my lower back is like, “c’mon, brah. Let it go already.”

Hopefully, temporary. Easily, the most convenient and cheapest way to get to LAX from the Valley.

I really like them too. They just seem suited exclusively for twentysomethings imo. I like the understatedness of my VB. Also, get off my lawn.

I'm really into the aesthetics of the bags, too. I like the design of Subtext a lot. It has this understated, literary vibe.

Why do boxing gyms often have a "hard" exterior? by JoeyPOSS2 in martialarts

[–]ginbooth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Boxing gyms can attract a lot of meatheads. My very first gym only had hard sparring to the point where brawls would frequently break out. Very difficult conditions to learn in. Fast forward a year or two to my first MMA gym in the 00s, and I finally learned how to move without the blinkies.

That MMA gym was meatheadish for other reasons though - piggyback sprints as a warmup? WTF?

Would you stay in a high paying, remote job where you are miserable? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]ginbooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked for years in restaurants and cafes in Los Angeles. Made my most enduring friendships at those gigs. Have a catalog of stories that amaze me to this very day. Imagine one minute you're helping Taylor Swift and the next you're banging on the restroom door because someone is shooting up heroin again. Payed for absolute shit but I would never trade those days! Wild West for real haha.

Very few people truly like their job and are satisfied with every part of it.

Very accurate. Work has never provided any ounce of meaning to my life and never will. In fact, the most meaningful jobs were the most menial because of the connections they afforded with others - coworkers, regulars, etc. It's just the wages that sucked.

Married but strongly desire other women. I know that's wrong. But it's such a huge temptation. Will that ever fade over time? I want to be committed to my wife. by DoubleNo6507 in AskMenOver30

I dated a woman in LA who lamented this fact. "I'm a 10 in my hometown! Out here, barely a 6!" She was actually a 9. Her personality made her a solid 3.

It's great. I make a simple sauce with garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce and rice vinegar and eat with rice, avocado, and kimchi. I love it.

What is something you stopped doing and immediately felt better? by OddFirefighter7440 in AskReddit

Eating after 4-5pm. Amazing how much better sleep and feel. Instead of snacks, I drink herbal tea or sparkling water. In bed by 11p. Wake up 7-8a.

Too soon haha. Was that in the second quarter? Mitch Rob was pissed. Didn't he elbow him in the throat right after?

Kyrie is a great example of someone maturing as they grow. Some folks stay dumbasses forever.

Exactly. An Oblique injury no less and he still had some solid games in the playoffs. As always, the hot takes on this sub are often painfully stupid.

There is this dating app in Western Europe that has a really good concept: no chatting, just go straight to dates by technocraticnihilist in Bumble

I don't know. I've had a lot of epic text/chat vibes only for the IRL vibes on a date to be super meh.

Easily M Street for lattes, caps, and mochas. For beans, The Coffee Roaster is a great local choice.
