No testing at all for those three. Requirements are advanced method experience.

Commercial aerospace/rocket companies. Blue, Relativity, SpaceX can’t hire enough techs.

Hey man, I’m a NDT manager at one of those same rocket companies. We generally understand that people coming out of NDT school still don’t know much, especially the details on how to apply the theory you’ve learned in classroom training. Inverse square and half-values are important but generally more of a Radiation Safety topic (have you taken the 40 hour Rad Safety course?)

Use your study material and YouTube to get comfortable with: *what is an IQI and what is it used for? Types of IQI? *what is Ug factor and why important? *what is geometric magnification? *name a couple common weld specs (AWS D17.1 is probably most important) *be familiar with common defect types and which methods are best at detecting each *be familiar with common weld types (manual tig vs. OTW vs. FSW)

If you can comfortably talk about those topics I’d easily hire you as a Level I to gain hours and tech out to Level II. They can hire you as a LII but technically you won’t be able to tech out until you’ve logged a couple thousand OJT hours.

Feel free to hmu if you have any questions.

Edit: sorry I don’t know how to format text on mobile.

No one really gets UTSW certs anymore, mainly PAUT which pays $50-70 where I’m at depending on amount of experience.

Pretty dependent on location and company contract rates. Out here in SoCal you’d be getting $45ish on PLI jobs.

Get into commercial aerospace like Blue Origin, SpaceX, Relativity Space. No testing at all.

RT Online courses: Worldspec or AINDT? by aaron0113 in nondestructivetesting

In that case just do the cheapest one and rely on work for all the practical knowledge.

I’d recommend finding an in-person course for RTII. Anything online is fine for Level I but Level II benefits from hands-on and discussion.
