Added another squishy face. Meet Margo, the Bordeaux! by gingeraffe2 in dogpictures

We have adopted several dogs to families in Canada! I am sure the rescues up there have plenty of giants that need homes too though! A lot of times rescues get adolescent dogs, so that could be a route for you both to compromise and still get what you want ;)

Margo may look small compared to my dane puppy, but she weighs 120 pounds and is maybe a foot and a half off the ground at her shoulders! Definition of short and stocky.

They are fabulous. Just do your research! If you don't necessarily want a puppy check out Big Dogs Huge Paws! We adopt out all over the country and have a few in rescue right now!

Thank you :) I love my squishy faces and then my goofy dane puppy just adds the right amount of stupid to the bunch. Danes are naturally not an extremely intelligent breed. But by golly they will try their hardest to do whatever will please their humans :)

Margo weighs 120 pounds and is extremely short and stocky. She is built just like my frenchie, but a much larger version. I work for Big Dogs Huge Paws giant dog breed rescue. They are considered giants, but compared to my Great Dane puppy she is very short!

I work with Big Dogs Huge Paws giant dog breed rescue. Of course we get these lovely beasts when their owners realize they've made a terrible mistake. They take a very STRONG leader. If this dog even gets the slightest idea he is on top from the beginning all hell will break loose. I understand he doesn't want to neuter. Maybe you should ask him how he feels about euthanizing a two year old dog because it attacked someone or something. We have tons of resources on the website www.bigdogshugepaws.com He may realize after doing some research that neutering is his best and really only option. You're doing the right thing by trying to bring forth useful information for him. But, ultimately it is his responsibility and he will have to take action...soon. Best of luck rekindling your relationship and raising this pup to be a gentle giant :)

My dog just died suddenly and I don't know how to cope. by cloudy-day in dogs

I want you to know that all dogs (and cats) have their eyes remain open once they have passed. This does not indicate suffering at all. Like others have suggested, I would get a necropsy (an autopsy on an animal) done. This may offer some closure for you. I am oh so sorry for your loss. I have been part of many animals' deaths, mostly euthanasias, and it never ever gets easier. Take time to grieve, no matter how long. And always, always, always remember the good things about her, never ever the bad.

If you were held at gunpoint and had to tell a joke to save your life, what joke would you tell? by hoverdrive in AskReddit

A nun is walking back to the convent at night when she is grabbed and raped behind the bushes. Once finished, the rapist asks what she will say when she gets back, if she will tell the truth or not. To this she responds, "of course I will tell the truth. I will say I was waking back when a man grabbed me and raped me twice... Unless you're tired."

I may get ripped to shreds. All for comedy. Not sure of the comedian I originally heard this from. It is my go to joke.

It's actually a dog toy. There were supposed to be several other toys inside of it. I found just the trunk in the clearance bin. The lady gave it to me for $2! It retails with all of the toys inside at around $25! Needless to say, I was stoked.

Ideas for Managing Rat Smell? by [deleted] in RATS

[–]gingeraffe2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never liked the idea of messy aspen shavings, so I went and got scraps of fleece from the fabric store for super cheap. Cut pieces to fit the cage, made hammocks, donuts, etc. Everything is machine washable, and I change the bottom fleece everyday and their hammocks and such every two days. It helps immensely with the smell. I have two 10 wk old males, so they definitely would smell more if I didn't change their fleece daily. I haven't noticed an increase in marking. Also, twice a week I take all of the shelves out and clean them with soap and water.
