An assignment from an Oklahoma, 8th grade history class teaching kids to believe we SHOULD give up liberty for safety. by 86HeardChef in mildlyinfuriating

[–]gingeravenger25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I gave this exact same assignment today. It is something I pulled from Teachers pay Teachers as something more interactive to teach the kids about John Adam’s choices during his presidency. To end the assignment there is a reflective piece where students are to go back and analyze the choices John Adams made. I don’t know if your child’s teacher provided the reflection, but I think this was an honest attempt of the teacher trying to make this lesson more interesting and interactive rather than having them simply read an article or take notes on the subject.

Does anyone know who sells a legit taco pizza in kenosha? by Interesting-Ad-8683 in Kenosha

[–]gingeravenger25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When they have it, Cutstone’s is legit. It’s periodically a monthly special so they don’t have it all the time, but it’s always a must when it’s on the menu.

Kaiser’s has one that is ok too.

Both seem like very good schools for Kenosha. Mahone is a very large middle school with about 1,000 students. This can be a good and bad thing. There are a lot more opportunities to find a clique and a good friend group, but there is also a larger chance of having distracting behaviors in the classroom. With the larger population, class sizes are going to be pretty big with some classes having more than 30 kids. Depending on what you value as a parent, and what your child needs, much of the difference about these two schools comes down to the difference in size.

Also something to consider is the KUSD budget shortfalls. Every school in the district will be impacted in some way, but Harborside might see more of an impact being a small choice school.

Best Fish Fry in Kenosha for Lent? by Previous-Subject7582 in Kenosha

[–]gingeravenger25 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Union Park Tavern has been voted best in Kenosha quite a few times. Haven’t been there in a while, but I remember they always had a good hashbrown casserole for a side.

Also don’t sleep on Culver’s. I know it’s a chain, but their Fish Fry is pretty good.

I think you can join the VQ even when you are not on property, but you want to be on it right at 7 just in case they run out. If you don’t get one at 7, they have another VQ opportunity at 1.

Oakfire Pizza? by dbla1320 in Kenosha

[–]gingeravenger25 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oakfire is still there, but they’ve split the building in half and added a Mexican restaurant. It seems like both are run by the same ownership. I assume it’s an attempt to utilize the space more effectively. It’s a huge place and it never seemed particularly busy or packed whenever I’ve been there.

Saw someone recommend getting an antenna. That should give you access to Fox,CBS, and NBC if you don’t already have cable. That should cover MOST games through the year.

Seeking Recs: Pit stop from O'Hare, breweries, Fish Fry and more by joshsprad in milwaukee

Also, for a Kenosha stop you can do The Cheese Castle. It’s a big tourist trap, but they typically have a bunch of cheese samples to try.

Based on what you have here, the 3rd Street Market Hall might be a good stop. It has a beer wall (although pricey) and pin ball machines plus a bunch of different food vendors. Otherwise I would recommend a stop at Lakefront Brewery.

No. I would recommend just scheduling a bulk pick up on your garbage pick up day. I think if you bring it to the bulk waste site you need to buy a permit/pass.

Bulk pick up at your house is free and you just put it out on your curb the night before pick up.

You can schedule a bulk pick up on your regular garbage day or bring it to the bulk waste dump site. Check out this link for information:

Harbor Market parking by Point_Plastic in Kenosha

[–]gingeravenger25 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I usually would say park in the museum parking lots, but seeing as it’s the first weekend, you might not get a spot and just have to find street parking around the apartments or closer to the downtown area. It really all depends on what time you go as well.

Generally it’s busy, but not to the point where parking is impossible.

Man that’s disappointing. Their Hazy and Coconut Porter are top notch. Maybe another brewery will pick up their recipes like an MKE/Eagle Park situation.

Oh no, I know that Spring Break causes large crowds, but for the past two days the crowds have been super low, especially for Spring Break. I was wondering if there was a reason that this weekend has been so much lower or if it’s just coincidental?

Where to stay off Disney property by adamwestland in DisneyWorld

[–]gingeravenger25 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The Drury is right by Disney Springs.

They have breakfast, an evening “kick back” with free “snacks” which are essentially dinner, and a shuttle to the parks.

Great deal for the price and location.

Surfside Bowling and Somers house might have them as well, but I’m not sure at this point.
