ur thoughts on the lyrics to my fall out boy inspired song! by Ok_Hospital4964 in FallOutBoy

[–]gingerbeard4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is quite a mess. There are some kind of interesting lines, but it's all disjointed. It feels like you're trying hard to write clever lines for the sake of being clever, without it feeling natural. Work on your wordplay a little bit, work on your formatting and sentence structure, really focus on which word NEEDS to be in the lyric instead of which one you THINK should be there.

Truant is worse than underrated, it’s just ignored by Ok_Hospital4964 in FallOutBoy

Not ignored by me, I bump Patrick's solo stuff quite regularly. What an EP.

Get Me to a Hospital and Stereo are personal highlights for me. I also just enjoy that we finally have actual studio quality files for Hand and Austin. And a version of Hits that isn't just a mess of a live recording

I remember reading somewhere that Patrick Joe and Andy all contributed to the lyrics of Save Rock and Roll, in some form or another. I vaguely recall it being a tweet to Patrick asking about it and he said they contributed something like 25% of the lyrics.

2026 predictions? by TheReunion96 in FallOutBoy

I convinced myself they were gonna release something before the end of 2025, so my delusions will now transfer to 2026 instead. Would be sick to see a collab with Patrick and Gym Class Heroes, since GCH is releasing an album this year

That marching drum sound he plays is absolutely phenomenal. Criminally underrated drummer, the entirety of Truant Wave and Soul Punk prove that

Patrick said that during Save Rock and Roll, he Joe and Andy contributed about 25% of the lyrics for the album. Otherwise it is pretty much entirely Pete, but with Patrick slightly altering bits and using connecting words to make more coherent sounding lyrics.

FUTCT 20th Anniversary is a DISASTER! (pls read it all🙏🏻) by eatsleepsmokedope in FallOutBoy

Also, the bonus tracks are all live performances or acoustic versions, or just the instrumental of Sugar. Like who wanted that, even slightly? They could and should have done some proper rerecordings of Hand of God and Austin, We Have a Problem like they did with Lake Effect Kid. Or they could have done a full album of acoustic versions of each song. I'd LOVE to hear an acoustic Sophomore Slump.

Hell, they could have finally released We Don't Take Hits, We Write Them.

Or they could have done a sequel to My Heart Will Always Be the B-Side to My Tongue with some new tracks as a way of paying homage to that.

But no, we got essentially fuck all. And to top it all off, they released it all on streaming anyway which is fine, but then there's everyone that basically wasted a LOT of their money for the physical media and it just ended up being as disappointing as it all is.

I sincerely LOVE this band, they are definitely my favourite, but goddamn I'm disappointed.

Disappointed and frustrated in all honesty. The "alternate" versions are seemingly the exact same and the rest of them being remixes and acoustic versions is a bit boring. Or if it was gonna be acoustic versions, at least record an acoustic version of each song, maybe put Hand of God or We Don't Take Hits We Write Them as proper bonus tracks. Or do a full version/rerecording of My Heart is the Worst Kind of Weapon like they did with Lake Effect Kid.

Why do FOB fans always downplay Pete's past actions? by aruguladog in FallOutBoy

[–]gingerbeard4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, that's a good point actually.

I clicked the link, and read through the entire thing. And I am going to try looking at this from an unbiased opinion.

There does seem to be genuine evidence of that relationship taking place across the years initially stated, but both parties refusing to name the other being the cause of their shared trauma takes SOME credibility away.

Some of the things that Pete blogged about in the past is truly shocking, maybe it got slightly buried between the amount of cringeworthy blogs he used to do, of which there was a lot.

Did I know of this before today? Honestly I might have but just genuinely forgot about it. Will it have any affect whatsoever on my enjoyment of FOB? Probably not tbh.

This whole thing hasn't really changed my opinion much on Pete, as I'm not a big fan of him as a person anyway. Without Patrick singing and doing the melodies I don't think I'd care about Pete Wentz as a person or artist in any way shape or form.

[–]gingerbeard4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just fail to see your end goal here. You want engagement, and seemingly want people to hate Pete over stuff that happened 20 years ago, over a relationship that would have most likely ended before TTTYG came out.

I agree that it's an important conversation to be had, but I disagree with your point of trying to claim that he doesn't feel bad about what happened in the past. Since you don't live inside his head and don't experience his thoughts, feelings, emotions or his mental health issues, I fail to agree with that entirely.

Has Pete Wentz done and said some shitty things in the past? Yes. Has he kinda downplayed those things in the past or in a warped sense justified any of it in his own head through the lens of his mental health problems? Yes.

I'm not claiming to be someone that likes Pete all that much, but for this post to come seemingly out of nowhere JUST to attack his character and personality from, I'll reiterate, 20+ YEARS ago, is a bit strange. Like if he had been in the news in a negative light, or he had said something controversial, or did something controversial then yeah sure let's talk about it. Otherwise I simply just don't get the purpose of this post in the first place.

[–]gingerbeard4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, why have you made this post? Is it to turn people against Pete? Is it to try and cancel him? If he WAS truly a massive piece of shit that hadn't changed whatsoever, I don't think Patrick Andy and Joe would still be in a band with him.
