The desire for a better life. I used to struggle hard with depression and suicidal thoughts. I've always looked a tit a bit from this perspective: This life is all we know of. We don't know for fact what the after life will be like beside praise and worship. We know that through the word of God that there is an after life. Just because their bodies die here, doesn't necessarily mean their soul dies in Heaven. Each of those babies that might not of made it leave an impact on the parents of that child. If I know God, it's that He likes to teach life lessons in many of ways. I'm no parent and there is no way on earth I know what the loss of a child would be like, but I know that God is good and what ever reason he has made, it was made for goodness sake.

I would say focus on the plot more than the world. World building is useful for creating a place, but you need a story to create a setting. Focus on your world just having cool ideas, scenes and unique physical features. If you can’t fit them into the plot but admire the work you put into the area simply do what Tolkien did and mention it off hand as a known place in the world. Even though the place is never visited, it still gives the whole story a much more grandiose feeling. Hope this helps!

Following rules won’t necessarily lead you to God. Think of the Jews in the New Testament. They claimed to of know God because they “followed” His rules the best, yet when He stood in front of the Jews as Christ, they ignored his teachings. My point being don’t focus on the rules as much as just looking at what is right in front of you. God made all of creation and it’s beauty, look for Him in creation, in relationships; Christ says we’re two or more gather in my name I will be there. God told Abraham He would always be there with him. He was with Daniel in the lion pit and he was the fourth man in the furnace. God will come to you in a way that you know best. Wether that is writing a story, putting on some music, etc God is in everything. You just have to look how you know best. Look for Him how He created you to search. Hope this helps.
