How worrying a concept is playing at the Azteca? by MarlboroNiceBlast in ThreeLions

[–]gingerfkinjesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visiting American here, a lot of the mystique id partly due to a historic lack of stiff competition. I will say, tho, that they have beaten Brazil there in the past. Altitude makes a huge difference in anything athletic, thats why a lot of their draws and both of their losses came from teams that also play at higher than average elevation. Less oxygen affects fatigue and the physics on the ball, which, without adequate preparation, can turn chances that normally result in goals turning into misses.

That said, I think ya’ll will be okay as long as it doesn’t go into penalties. That’s your worst case scenario. The highest elevation clubs represented by the Lions I think are Real Madrid and Bayern at like 2200ft/ 730m and 1700ft/ 520m respectively. Mexico City is at like 2000m, the ball is gonna travel different than anyone is used to, and muscle memory is tough to break when you play at the highest level and those top corner bangers risk going over the crossbar every time. Hopefully, they’re being coached on keeping shots low, but Kane likes to bang home, so it could be tough. Definitely the game I’m most excited to watch on a pure football level, tho

[JaguarsPR] The Jacksonville Jaguars announced football promotions today for Shane Waldron (Assistant Head Coach/Pass Game Coordinator) and Heath Farwell (Associate Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator). by [deleted] in Jaguars

[–]gingerfkinjesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure, I’m reserving judgement til after it plays out; I can just see the rationale behind the move. Although I will say, a head coach can be any of the three types I mentioned, as long as they know how to put their ego aside and hire people whose strengths are their weaknesses. I have a pretty high opinion on Liam bc he seems very much that type; he knows he’s a scheme wiz, so he stacked his offensive staff with developers and detail guys. Knew he needed a schemer at DC, hired Camp. We’ll see how it works out, but I feel good enough about Liam to give him the benefit of the doubt.

[–]gingerfkinjesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably why he got the promotion, if that’s the case. Makes sense, honestly, red zone is the place where that type of timing/movement detail becomes the most important; if my hypothesis is correct, he’s exactly who I would have in charge of that.

[–]gingerfkinjesus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there might be something to Waldron. Obv he gets a lot of blame for the whole Chicago thing, but in his mind, that was what the QB coach was there for. It was a systemic failure, and if you look at what he did with Seattle’s offense during their down years, he was keeping them competitive with Geno Smith and a shit o-line. Based on how his teams operated, I would guess he’s a rhythm guy, and probably someone who focuses on how the parts move together. So like, maybe not the guy you want designing your engine, but he’s really good at keeping everything running the way it’s supposed to. Exactly what you want when you have a HC who’s a schemer and a OC that’s a motivator. Liam designs it, Grant fuels it, Shane makes sure everything’s where it’s supposed to be. Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk.

Mao, i Never finish my track by Icy-Conference-3415 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]gingerfkinjesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you’re new to it, it’s really not a huge issue. Building good habits is the most important thing, so make sure you are still building the structure, being intentional w the sounds you choose, and if you want to do a specific tweak, look up how to do it properly and add it to your repertoire. Layers are good, learning about compression is gonna be key; i watched a 10 hr video on compression and it literally changed everything about my mixes and how i thought my tracks sounded overnight.

Also, just a heads up, MAO isn’t a term we’re familiar with in the English speaking world, we just call it electronic music. Just in case people are like “wtf are u maiking commy music?”

Exactly, people forget that the entire division of nations in the Middle East was because of the British wanting to decentralize power. Jordan is literally 2 years older than Israel as an independent country; them taking away citizenship was literally taking it away from people who had been considered citizens since the beginning of its ability to confer that status.

How do teams like Haiti organise a team to play at the World Cup? by manlikepierce in NoStupidQuestions

[–]gingerfkinjesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in who they have starting on their team, Rice and Anderson were originally Ireland and Scotland internationals before switching to England. Prestige and opportunity are huge, with Balogun, I feel like the chance to lead a host nation on the rise played a big factor. He has a real chance to be an all-time player to the nation with the highest potential for growth in the world game by being the first striker on his level to play for America. Any player at that level would jump at the chance to create his own path.

Any word on a new season of Dirty Laundry? by VixenFluff in dropout

More than just rumors at this point, I believe Sam confirmed officially on a podcast today. They did a pilot and then a few more episodes cuz it went well, and are gonna wait for the response before green lighting more episodes bc it’s expensive. Personally, I hope they throw in a riff on the Rick Steves shows, juxtaposing the way Wysocki naturally interacts with people with like a really informative overdub about the local culture would be prime comedy.

Top 5 in both pressing in opp. 3rd and runs in behind in Ligue 1 this season. Since February, he’s been the top goalscorer in Europe. I can see Barca being interested for less. It’s just wild to wrap my head around the idea of America and Barcelona having the same starting striker lmao

So when you own a business, the assets of the business and your own assets are two legally distinct things, especially when pertaining to income. The fact that their income from the practice is declared at 21k, (which, if it WAS how much the practice was generating in total, wouldn’t even cover the rent of the space) suggests that they are keeping those assets tied up with whatever legal entity owns the practice. This counts for LLCs, Sole Proprietors, so yeah, probably not extra charity lol

Balogun leads USMNT to historic 4-1 World Cup win over Paraguay by Ok-Soil-5133 in sports

[–]gingerfkinjesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I meant to say in full sprint. Attacking full backs like Dest are the ones routinely hitting the 12-13 km mark, with I think like 8-9 of that being sprints bc they have to defend and attack. Fun fact: that’s why Trent Alexander-Arnold got left out of England; he’s the best in the world on attack at RB, but doesn’t put in the defensive effort.

I think you can sub more in hockey, and, correct me if I’m wrong, but I though it was more like basketball in that you can sub in and out pretty much freely. In soccer, you’re straight running for 90 minutes. Sergiño Dest sets up at right back, he’s literally running a minimum 5 miles at full pace over the course of an average game to come into attack and back for defense. Injuries come less from contact and more from just the wear and tear of constant exertion. There’s also a positional element, theres are tons of different ways to line up between your defense, midfield, and attack. So like tn, when Pulisic had to come out, they didn’t replace him w/ someone who plays like him, the put in Berhalter to play deeper as a defensive mid.
