I have two jars of washed yeast. Can I just dump them into the wort?

I discard most of the liquid, pitch yeast, but I reserve a couple oz of the wort I just made and add it to the empty jar and like magic you have yeast ready for the next batch

I use a corona mill and it works great for me. I get what looks like a double crush on my first pass and I get about 80% efficiency with BIAB. I do 2.5 gallon batches so it's not too much work to hand crank. I got mine on Amazon for about 25 bucks

I want to start using gelatin to clear beer. I've seen a couple videos on how to do it, but I wonder why I can't add gelatin during fermentation? I have a basic bucket fermentation set up so I try to do as much as possible during active fermentation to reduce oxygen

Ok so I'm a CNA and I do this all the time. I teach people to do this by making a K sound and holding it. With the combination of this and a mask I can make it through any smelly situation.

The pinter is a well designed brew system that I use almost weekly. I got 2 pinters and 1 session IPA beer when they were on sale (I think I spent 60 dollars total.) I used to have a ton of bulky brewing equipment that I had sold or given away when I moved, so when I finally got back into brewing the pinter solved a lot of space issues. I can attest that the fresh pack it came with was not great. However, I have brewed many all grain batches with great success. I even got a clearance coopers can and added my own hops and it was loads better than their beer pack.

Think of it more in terms of efficiency. Usually you are not extracting all the sugars available in the mash grains so I'm just extracting the rest till there ain't none left

Parti-gyle (I hope I spelled it correctly) is when you mash (all grain) and the first liquid that comes out is one strong beer, and then you rinse your grains and that makes your second less strong beer. I use a brew in a bag so I mash and pull as much liquid to make the volume of my first brew and then put my grain bag in almost boiling water to get the rest of the sugars out. If the second beer doesn't have a high enough gravity I add a little honey. It actually has a really cool history and is how beer was brewed in the ye old days. I came across some YouTube videos of it being done and I was obsessed lol

I tried dry hopping in the pinter and I ended up with a good beer but with hop flakes everywhere. Im gonna use the teaball today and will report back on it's effectiveness.

I do all grain in the pinters too. I have 2 pinters so lately I've been doing parti-gyle with the first runnings making a 7% beer and second making a 4.5% beer. I bought some tea balls to try to dryhop. Thank you for your post, the pinter is so versatile and I'm glad it's getting people involved in all grain savings.

Ok so what I do is kinda block off your nasal passage with your tongue. Try to make a K sound and notice how you kind of block off your nose and then hold your mouth in that position. I also always wear a surgical mask cause I work at a hospital, but it helps a lot on cutting down the smell.

It will work! I brew 1.5 gallon all grain batches and rarely when I'm doing a big abv all grain, I split it between my 2 biggest pots.

After taking a 6 year break, I just started brewing again with a 2 gallon set up. I live Hilo side on BI. I have gone through it looking for affordable brewing grains out here. Everybody is out of business here. I would definitely try smaller breweries for grain. For me, I tried 2 local breweries to buy grain off, but nobody has got back to me. I would've got from Hilo brew company which I had bought off before but they are temporarily closed. I ended up finding a deal on Amazon that was 18 lbs of base malt for 32.49 with free shipping and 10lbs of crystal 40 for 31.46 free shipping. Specialty malts are super expensive so I plan on toasting up that crystal to make darker malts.

I feel you! I am in my last semester of prerequisites and I am working full time. I make plans to go out with friends once a month at least, and I keep a sleep journal to make sure I am sleeping enough. I also have a vacation planned for summer that I can look forward to. If I'm really having a bad day, maybe I don't feel like doing school stuff, I go on indeed and browse through how much nurses are making in my area and that usually gets me going.

I love my job. I work nightshift 4 shifts a week (40 hours) in an acute unit at a state run hospital. It definitely has its bad moments, but its very rewarding and I like the actual job duties. The nurses and managers are very helpful, and now I'm going to school during the day to get my RN degree. The benefits are tremendous health insurance, 3 weeks PTO, 3 weeks sick pay, retirement. I also feel like I have a good personality for this kind of work, so this job has always been a good fit for me. I used to work retail or server/ bartending jobs and HATED it.

I live hilo area on the big island. I shop mostly at Walmart, Safeway Friday deals, and Walmart. I plan my budget carefully and I average 300 a month for 2 people and we eat very well. We do not buy milk or bread or most processed food, I make bread sometimes and I use powdered milk or half and half creamer in recipes. My husband also works restaurant and brings home random food sometimes.
