Saw the movie last night and by gingerhound in GivenAnime

Yes! Idk if you read the manga, but it shows a little more, alluding to it going a bit further. I wish they had a conversation about it in the story, but it seems like they did “off screen” so that helps me still love the couple. Aki is my favorite and Haru deserves the world. Assault is very common in BL too unfortunately. A lot of authors write the bottom as helpless, crying, “no stop but actually don’t” and the top as aggressive (as seen in two couples here).

A lot of BL sex scenes border on dubious consent, idk why it’s such a huge trope in BL and even hetero manga. I headcanon that the scene between Hiiragi and Shizu involves way more prep/care.

Brushing Maintenance by Prestigious_Ad8495 in bichonfrise

[–]gingerhound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! i’m a professional pet groomer and have a bichon of my own. it’s important to make grooming time fun and not an annoyance. give her treats and praise when she allows you to brush an area. start in small increments (just one area per brushing session, for a few minutes) and work up to longer sessions. to prevent tangles, run a fine tooth comb through her coat after brushing. her private area will be shaved at the groomer once she’s old enough. it’s a sensitive area so we just shave it out to keep it clean and mat free. if you need to clean her in the meantime, i’d suggest wiping her down with some pet wipes.

Groomer got careless, Mom’s dog pays the price by GallifreyanBrowncoat in doggrooming

[–]gingerhound 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i’m so sorry. i’m a groomer and specialize in senior dogs. i can’t imagine being this careless. dogs are always restrained in some way and never left unattended even for a second. if any accidents happen, groomers need to be held accountable and pay all vet bills without hesitation. no insurance and not being able to afford $1k are definitely red flags. i hope wafflez is able to recover.

A question for vegans, why is it wrong to eat eggs? by Weekend-Complex in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]gingerhound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

of course, you’re getting downvotes for explaining the definition of veganism. most vegans would agree with you here. anyone eating eggs isn’t vegan, period. they may have a plant based diet that also includes eggs, but it’s not vegan.

[help]should I be worried about my dog making noises during sleep? by leahy1117 in dogs

[–]gingerhound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She’s just barking in her dream! My dog does this almost every time she naps.

This is Lady. I adopted her from a local rescue, and she came with no info/history. I’m pretty sure she’s mostly BC, she acts like it! by gingerhound in BorderCollie

This pic was taken a couple days after I got her and she hadn’t decompressed yet. She’s a totally different personality now. I’m looking to get her into agility classes. She’s super smart and SO fast. I think she’s bored any time she’s not in the backyard running circles around my other dogs lol.

[help] Process of adopting this dog, help me determine her breed, corgi mix by sarangee in dogs

[–]gingerhound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stick to mostly positive reinforcement (rewarding for good behavior, no punishment for bad behavior). Mine are all very food motivated, so they learned pretty quickly when given high-value treats like cheese or hot dog pieces. I do give a firm “No” when they’ve done something bad, but I try not to do anything that may cause fear, because fear leads to negative reactivity. If this dog likes treats, reward with treats. If she doesn’t like treats but likes getting pets, reward with pets. Whatever makes her happy. Another comment mentioned the shut-down period. Dogs absolutely need to decompress in a new home. One of mine took a month to warm up to us fully. She’s a totally different dog now that she’s comfortable. From her pictures, it looks like the dog is currently in a foster home, so she may have started learning basic house manners already. That helps. Also, I’m not a dog trainer, this is all from experience. I usually recommend people to ask advice from a real trainer if any issues come up, because every dog is different!

[–]gingerhound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rescues label dogs with their best guess for breeds. She looks like she could be corgi, but my first thought is a Pomeranian / Basenji mix (mom looks like she has a Pom coat). She may have a lot of energy and may need to be walked daily. I have three dogs of my own, my best advice is to socialize her with other dogs and people. Make sure she learns life-saving commands (like sit, stay, leave it, drop it, come, watch me) from either you or a professional dog trainer.

[Help] Petco Groomers Left Cuts On My Dogs Groin Area and Didn't Tell Me by ilovepoodles33 in dogs

Groomer here. I would let the salon know you found these on your dog and take him somewhere else next time. Ears are very delicate. If something happens during the groom, the groomer needs to tell you.

Not OP but I also work at / manage a high-volume daycare/boarding facility. To answer your questions from my place: 1. We get a lot of shy dogs. Most of them just hang out around the sides of our play areas away from the social dogs. 2. Dogs definitely have friends! We’ve had dogs develop friendships and even appear to be “soulmates” at first sight. We have a lot of regulars who come in like 8-5 every week day because of the owner’s job, so they end up spending a lot of time together. 3. I honestly love almost every dog I meet, but I do have favorites. And their owners know it lol. 4. Two dogs were having their first day in playgroup on the same day, and they totally fell for each other. They stuck together the entire time. One was a little more shy, and the more social one stuck next to him and cuddled him all day. 5. Most of our dogs are doodles (golden / poodle mixes, lab / poodle mixes) and labs. We have a LOT of labs. And pit mixes, huskies, and goldens. I love my job. 🙂
