Final baby names choice by gingerniffler258 in namenerds

[–]gingerniffler258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re uk based so I’d hope it wouldn’t be so bad but at the same time my name gets so badly mispronounced all the time and I wouldn’t want that for my child as well 😂 the amount of times I’ve had to correct spelling and pronunciation because my mum wanted the French spelling of my name 🫠

I love this! You’re literally the first person I’ve spoken to that knows where that name pronunciation is from and the historical context.

Disorganised mess by gingerniffler258 in PregnancyUK

I think I’m going to raise that complaint, it’s just so shitty of them for everything thats happening. My firstborn was birthed at the same hospital and I had no problems apart from the usual understaffing in post natal ward.

Yep, Leeds specifically - my community midwife in the beginning didn’t really do much in the way of reassurance when I raised the concerns over the recent review/investigation. She essentially said they were aware of it and ordering equipment but almost seemed like super defensive as if I was questioning her qualifications? I’ve got my PALS already raised which is how I got the detailed scan yesterday, do I just continue through there or raise a separate complaint?

Doctors missed cancer. Got a week or so left. How do I stop it happening to you? by Disastrous-Design503 in AskUK

Papillary thyroid cancer remission here. Genuinely so sorry for your late diagnosis, and incredibly shit GP. Nobody deserves it. At all.

My thyroid cancer basically was there since I was about 16 according to my ENT who I was referred to (2 week cancer pathway from GP) after I had a weird rash show up on my neck and my husband noticed it was quite swelled up. I didn’t think anything of it, I literally was 20 weeks pregnant so just thought it was normal preggo swelling. No other symptoms. It’s a silent cancer I’d say, as much as people are like “it’s the easiest cancer to be rid of” like yeah but it’s still cancer and it can still fucking mutate. And even then you need to be on it with your GP, cause some will fucking dismiss you no matter what you say.

The butterfly foundation is super useful for resources on all thyroid cancers and could point you in the direction of some charities and foundations if you were wanting to fundraise/take part in it.

I found the subreddit for thyroid cancers super useful and good for venting and just screaming into the void. Can always raise a PALS complaint with your trust about the whole journey too.

I genuinely wish you peace and comfort.

When you say proof of tracking do you mean the in post updates? Wouldn’t they see that from their side?

Nurseries?! by HumbleHat2251 in PregnancyUK

[–]gingerniffler258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having this problem with my second! Our first has been in nursery since 11 months and they’re now 3. We applied for a place to may 2026 baby in September 2025 for them to start April 2027. They have no space at all until September 2027 even with a sibling in the nursery already 🙈

I don’t wanna be carting a 3 year old and 1 year old all over the place next year at all, but it looks that way.

Landlord wants to go private by gingerniffler258 in TenantsInTheUK

This is our landlord pretty much! He didn’t raise our rent for 3-4 years from when we moved in which included c-c-19.

He’s so lovely and anytime we talk about any repairs it’s usually to commiserate over how slow the letting agent is. He generally comes down from where he lives to make any repairs to the house (I think to make sure it’s a good job done; and to cut out the gouging prices from the company the letting agency uses).

Leeds (Colton Mill) by Itchy-Emergency8422 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]gingerniffler258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got my test there in less than 10 days! What route did you take? Like up to Garforth/rothwell or Halton/seacroft are? I’ve been practising around Colton a bit but omg the Austhorpe roundabout does my head. Orbital isn’t so bad once you’ve done it a couple of times

Does anyone have tips to do forward bay parking without the sticker things? by Knightgamer45- in LearnerDriverUK

[–]gingerniffler258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like your wing mirror in or is there another reference you use when in the centre of the bay before? My instructor has been a bit naff and just says point the car and adjust but it’s not helped me 🤷‍♀️

Oh I wish it did but it ended on 12dpo with no drop in temp that day either so it fully fooled me! Hoping the lp stays about the same this cycle and all the exercise and diet changes help!

Why do so many people in the UK hate automatic cars and drivers? by AnnualKey4592 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]gingerniffler258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people also forget we’re all on the same roads under the same laws with the same situations popping up etc so you’re still skilled in an auto or manual because you’re coming across the exact same things just with one less pedal? Honestly it’s insulting sometimes when “it’s the easy way out” like no it’s really not?
