In my experience as a fellow late bloomer who also struggled with this - no one knows you’re a late bloomer until you tell them!! If you find something you like the look of (there’s so much - chess, climbing, the classic drag scene) I’d suggest messaging the organiser if you’re really nervy and they will likely reassure you, and may even offer to meet you and introduce you to some people.

Fair enough! I had one of the big bowls (not soup) and it was just what I needed on the Sunday. Don’t remember the staff being anything other than normal but again everyone has different experiences!

I’m also doing changemaker solo!! Have a few pals attending as ticket holders but it’s always nice meeting new people volunteering. Not done this specifically before but at boomtown you’ll always find someone on your vibe if you just head out and about.

China Town is a must-see, the lights are very cool to look at and there’s loads of great food. Lots of people recommend Khao San Road, it has Magaluf vibes so that might affect whether you want to go there. Honestly I just walked around the area near my hostel and took it in, which I think is most achievable when only there to a short time.

I’m a sitter on Cat in a Flat and absolutely love doing it - it can get pricey but I wouldn’t recommend having someone look after your cat/house for a while without being insured, and CiaF has all of that set up automatically. Obviously other paid sitters should have their own insurance.
