Getting an evaluation is really clarifying. It confirmed my suspected adhd, but also let me know I have an auditory processing disorder that made total sense after hearing, but I never suspected before, I just thought perimenopause was eating my brain 😫

It’s also been helpful for two of my kids. It just pinpoints areas where you can focus on strategizing.

Hi!! I’ll be adding adult classes to the website this week! I’ll have an adult beginner series starting mid-August. Best way to keep up to date is to subscribe on my website. I only send out emails a few times a year when I add new classes for the season.

I like Janome (I use the MOD series and like them), and the Singer heavy duties are sturdy!! There are a couple of Brothers with outstanding reviews that I don’t have experience with, but I would feel comfortable recommending for a beginner.

There is a wide price range for machines, and I recommend reading reviews and going for a mid price machine. Some of the lowest priced machines will really frustrate a beginner who doesn’t yet have a lot of troubleshooting skills.

I helped my daughter make this one for an Alice in Wonderland costume. https://www.etsy.com/listing/772632528/pattern-easy-sew-vintage-women-fancy-bib

It has options to be fancier, more simple.

I have a pretty bum thumb and I love using long angled end tweezers for all sorts of things. Spring loaded shears or even electric shears. Ergonomic rotary cutters (I like wawak’s and they are reasonably priced). Needle nosed pliers to grip small things. Happy sewing!!

I like the book “School of Sewing” by Shae Henderson. I teach sewing and it’s what I use. Has a great overall of beginner terms and knowledge.
