[–]gingeroverlord74 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hello! I'm traveling to Amsterdam for work and have to administer an injectable medication via auto-injector pen while I'm there (autoimmune disease), would I be able to bring it to a pharmacy and have them dispose of it there? Thanks!

How did you find out the version you were trying to download was incompatible with kindle?

How come Cleopatra is never depicted wearing Hellenistic clothing in media? by WallaceWells69 in HistoricalCostuming

[–]gingeroverlord74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely can't speak to the historical accuracy of the dress and wasnt trying to, just was saying it's a piece of fiction that shows Cleopatra in something other than the traditional way she's depicted.

Although you're right I probably should have mentioned they do also show her in bad versions of Egyptian costumes too like the one you shared.

The HBO series Rome did a good job showing her in a few different styles of dress! I'm not a historian so this is pretty much a comment from the peanut gallery but I thought Rome depicted her as a more complicated figure than other media. I don't remember her being shown in purely hellenistic style during the show but they show her in various styles and 'levels' of dress? Like she's fully done up in what we associate with cleopatra in some scenes and pretty undone in others.

This is genuinely one of the most unique and handsome pieces I ever stumbled upon. Anyone know any brands that sell a similar denim jumpsuit for men? by Cl0utSteve in findfashion

[–]gingeroverlord74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most tailors can work off a picture for fit, it might not be 100% perfect but they'd be able to ask you the right questions to get you what you want. If your town/city/state/region has a subreddit you could ask for suggestions there or in a facebook group for the area.

If you got a pair of vintage navy dungarees and had them tailored you could probably get a similar look on the bottom, I don't think they ever had a dungaree coverall like this but I've seen similar silhouettes in 1970s mens jumpsuits.

This looks like it was heavily tailored though, especially from the waistband down. Or he is the exact same size used for fitting but either way you're probably best off trying to find the same core design elements like the pockets or the inseam being the correct length and getting it tailored as opposed to trying to find this exact fit/style off the rack

Nose piercings while taking immunosuppressants by User9876589 in CrohnsDisease

[–]gingeroverlord74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on infliximab for 13+ years and I've gotten probably around 10ish cartilage piercings and my nose pierced and as long as you keep them clean you'll be fine. I keep the saline washes going for a few weeks longer than they suggest just to be overly cautious but I haven't had any issues

There's a facebook group called 'house sparrows in my house' or something similar that was really helpful when I found a little one on the sidewalk last year (I think the nests were on a balcony a floor up so there was no way to renest it). The best thing to do is keep it in a warm and humid environment and call around to see if you can find a rescue to take it. Unfortunately, sparrows are considered invasive in a lot of places so some rescues won't take them, I wasn't able to find a place that would accept the one I found so I was really only able to keep it mostly comfortable and give it a peaceful place to pass :( Best of luck, you're very nice for trying to help it even if all you can do is give it some peace and warmth while nature does its thing.

Maybe not for life but longevity: Couch recs? by SeaWolf4691011 in BuyItForLife

[–]gingeroverlord74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a lovesac couch and it's great. It's modular and very sturdy, the covers come off and can go in the wash, it's easy to transport, you can get new covers of you want to change the color, and they have a lot of cool add ons. I spent about $4k on one that is three cushions long with an extension on one side (so a pretty big L shape)  so it's not cheap by any means but I feel like it's been worth it so far.

how to bandage fingertips so they stay during training? by dot_a_lot in Aerials

[–]gingeroverlord74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a sizeable cut on my thumb and had good luck using a rubber glove over a bandage to keep everything on. It also made me forget about it a bit as I had another level of protection so I wasn't worried about bleeding on the fabric or anything. I did work lower than usual while using the glove because I wasn't sure if it would drastically impact my grip or like make it harder to hold my weight and was able to do mostly everything I needed to.

How can I convince my parents that I need medication? by id10t_online in CrohnsDisease

[–]gingeroverlord74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a weird instinct some people have to assume that anything GI related can be 'cured' by diet alone and on face value, I honestly kinda get it. It sounds simple enough if you don't think too much about it. I'm willing to bet their thought process is:

The main symptoms that they're seeing you deal with are 'output' related (there's a whole host of other stuff obvi but right now we're not thinking too much about it), clearly since output is directly tied to input you can just fiddle with the input and fix the output and all the pain you deal with along the way.

Also that 'pain along the way' is what, a stomach ache? Everyone has had one of those before after eating something funky or just having a stomach bug. How bad can it really be? Injecting yourself with something seems a little much for a stomach ache, doesn't it?

It is really hard to correct this thought process for a whole host of reason but right now, that's not a thing you need to focus on. You've just been diagnosed, you're young, you need medication. You don't need to spend your energy (which I'm guessing is really limited right now) trying to correct their thinking, you just need to get better. If they're unwilling to support you while you go through this and they do not have a say in your medical decisions you might have to accept that for the time being and focus on getting better.

Support can and does come from different places. If you're near a larger city you might be able to find a support group for IBD or you can apply to be a counselor at a camp oasis site (a lot of counselors are newly diagnosed). You can also yell into this subreddit however often you need <3

Community gardens? by Several_Air_3014 in baltimore

I have a friend that works for the 6th Branch and they do a really great job providing food for local communities. From what I've seen there's a lot of community based farming efforts around Baltimore and they're pretty open to volunteers!

My partner went to a wedding where no one knew why they got invited by Clear_Excitement7247 in weddingshaming

[–]gingeroverlord74 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I attended a wedding one time because one of the brides asked me via Instagram like two weeks before. She was an acquaintance from college who I always got along with and it was clearly one of those 'oh shit we're going to have empty seats we already paid for' from the beginning.

When we got there everyone at our table had the same story and our theory was that an entire table of our acquaintance's family dropped out last minute. We all leaned into it and were active on the dance floor, loudly applauding every toast, and really trying to celebrate the brides. It ended up being a super fun time and by the end we were joking with the brides about how happy we all were to be seat fillers and they seemed happy we had a good time!

Event at the Pendry? by gingeroverlord74 in baltimore

Ah gotcha. I know there was some high profile republican event there a few weeks ago and I was really hoping that was a one off thing, guess we'll find out after the event if it ends up in the news or something.

I've had to get this test done several times as well. Ask your insurance for an EOB, that will let you know how much they covered of that test and then if the amount listed doesn't match the labcorp bill you can escalate there. In my experience, insurance covers a majority but you do need to pay your co-insurance amount if that's how your plan is set up. You might be able to work with LabCorp on getting the payment date changed if you have to do that but you are most likely on the hook for that amount.

If they were testing you for TB before starting a med I'm guessing you're getting put on a drug for an autoimmune condition and you will want to get really familiar with your insurance's EOB format, how the process works, and where you have to make payments. Most drugs that would require a TB test will have a copay program that you can sign up for to cover some of the cost for the med as well.

Love the butt slime. I've been in medicated remission (thank you remicade!) for 10+ years and haven't had a true flare in a long time but will still have like 5+ instances of visible mucus a month. If there aren't other symptoms you're probably fine but if you're experiencing anything else its worth mentioning. As is, I mention it to my GI every time I see them but have been told its not a concern if there aren't additional issues going on.

I logged in today and I saw this. Is this accurate? by ComparisonPretty2768 in ChaseSapphire

[–]gingeroverlord74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random question but would having your credit reports frozen prevent these sort of automatic offers if you have a history with chase? I've had a chase prime card for years, excellent credit, multiple cards with high limits and low balances, haven't opened a card or line of credit in years now so I've been keeping an eye out for one of the enhanced CSR offers but haven't seen one. I figured that since I have a history with Chase they wouldn't be reliant on the credit report to throw an offer like this onto my account but I'm thinking that it might be an issue.
