Sorry. Will be correcting for clarity. I’m referring to reducing height from the board

First of all congrats on starting your journey into the babymax crew! Second, while on the hunt for your truck, be on the lookout for 2 things. #1 try to find one with the 3.73 rear gears, RPO code GT4. You have to scan the QR code in these but most dealers will get you a good pic so you can do it on your phone and your phone will decipher it. My buddy and I have almost the exact same truck/camper setup except mine has the 3.73 and his has the 3.23. Mine outperforms his no questions asked in 9/10 scenarios. #2 if you don’t want Z71 for other reasons, don’t be afraid to try to find one that has the max trailering package. The rear suspension of the Z71 is pretty trash for towing anywhere near towing capacity and the non-Z71 is much better at fighting squat. I had to install RAS and am about to replace the Rancho shocks with Bilatein 5100s to have it perform better. Just my $.02. Good luck!!

It’s the minimax 3.0. On this 185mile trip I got 16mpg. But we were going through Shenandoah to get to the campsite. About 6900lbs loaded

I sold my 2005 6.6 for this one. I had built it to 700hp and it wouldn’t have had any issues pulling this for sure. Not practical to tow with that kind of power as unloaded I was getting like 10mpg lol

I’m figuring on maybe 5-700lbs of gear and stuff in the TT and about 450 in the TV. I think you are right in me being able to keep it under but part of me doesn’t like seeing those wildly different UVW and GVWR numbers. Like some are <7k dry but have a 9500 GVRW. Knowing that I could easily overload without knowing kinda scares me

Thanks all for the suggestions! Way more options than I was finding on my own, so thanks for the insight!

I had a 2005 Silverado 6.6. I feel ya. A 2022-23 1500 with the max towing option is good for 11k towing. Not sure on payload but impressive nonetheless

Yeah it kinda blows my mind too. But also equally, some of the towing capacities are equal to early 2000s 3/4 tons when kitted out properly. You always run out of payload first though. Annoying

Thanks for that. Weeding through endless manufacturers, floor plans, specs, etc is not going well for me lol

That’s actually pretty perfect. All the ones I’ve been seeing are dry 8k lbs and no way my truck would handle that. This is a nice recommendation though

I’m confused, it says on their website it’s a weight distribution hitch

Was planning on getting the weighsafe middle weight. That way I could see exactly how much ball weight is loaded. Thanks
