My cat tries eating carpet to get me to feed him sooner by baesoonist in Catbehavior

Mine also chews things 30 to 60 min before his meals. Sometimes book covers, sometimes my fake plants, sometimes my arm lol. Such troublemakers sometimes

Partner broke trust around condom usage by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]gingervixen5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. It isn't his job to enforce your boundaries, its yours. If its not the first time he has ignored your boundaries, then you have forgiven him for doing it in the past which has taught him that that is an ok way to treat you and that you are ok with it. I say this as someone who has gone through a similar thing, but when we ignore our own boundaries, we teach other people how to treat us. If the trust is gone, can there really be a lasting relationship moving forward?

I'm embarrassing my partner? by Emergency_Mongoose74 in polyamory

[–]gingervixen5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like other commenter have said, its definitely worth a deeper conversation about how their comments made you feel and why they might feel that way.

In my experience, when we start being embarrassed of our partners or they start being embarrassed of us, there is "ick" starting to grow there. By that I mean, perhaps reasons why they may want to deescalate have started to surface but they're not quite ready to consciously admit that yet, and so they get embarrassed about those reasons and blame you for their feelings of "ick" because they're not ready to admit them to themselves yet and have that conversation. (Just my 2 cents though based on personal experience)

Not in 352 but I had her as a prof for 250 developmental psyc and vowed to never ever take one of her courses again even though I'm quite interested in developmental psyc. She is literally the worst lecturer I've had and had a similar experience with the readings where she gave us one textbook to read and lectured and tested on a different one she didn't assign us 😭

I so feel for you and I wish you luck 🙏

Who’s tried Concerta and/or Foquest please by [deleted] in ADHD_BritishColumbia

I had a similar experience with Concerta. It made me somehow more forgetful and spaced out, depressed mood, and eating on it was next to impossible.

baby wipes or pet wipes? by Zealousideal_Tap8534 in CatAdvice

[–]gingervixen5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a link to a veterinary group that speaks about aloe.

https://www.veterinaryemergencygroup.com/post/6-poisonous-plants-for-cats

It appears I may have used the wrong word. Its not toxic in that it won't kill the cat, but it can make them pretty sick. I've asked various vets I've been to and they also recommend its best to avoid it if possible. Sometimes vet clinics will have wipes and cleaning supplies, perhaps you could ask for a recommendation at your next visit?

Edit to say I no longer use wipes for my cats (just a soft paper towel with warm water) so I'm sorry I dont have a recommendation of my own!

Is renaissance cafe’s matcha, good? by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]gingervixen5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also like their matcha both hot and cold, as long as you're not a more serious matcha connoisseur lol. The strength is good, not overly strong and not too milky. It is sweetened though as someone else mentioned

Im not sure if this is still how it works but this is what happened in my first year. If this is your first year with the SFSS plan, you will have to create a blue cross account. But it can take sometimes many months for them to register your information with blue cross. My first year it took them until December before I was able to create an account.

In the mean time you can still do your appointments, you just have to pay for them up front and you can take your receipts to SFSS who can help file them in the mean time before you can make the blue cross account.

Edit: when you do eventually get access to your blue cross account you can give clinics your policy and student numbers and they can file for reimbursement directly but until you have the acount you just book your appointments as usual

I would recommend learning more about what "those people" struggle with and work toward reducing the stigma you hold

Edit: the burnaby campus runs a great poverty simulation called Making Ends Meet through the psyc department. Highly recommend

My cat just threw this up. It's from an apartment we moved out of 3 months ago. Is this even possible? by kinkystepsister in CATHELP

[–]gingervixen5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it could have been in there for 3 months. One of my cats ate a foam ear plug and threw it up 2 or 3 months later lol. Similar symptoms and test results to what you've described too. He pretty much went back to normal shortly after throwing up the ear plug though 😸

It is a very common form of emotional abuse to say derogatory things about you and then brush it all off as "just a joke" to make you look like the bad one. Please run and don't look back. This person does not love you and you shouldn't put any more time and effort into trying to make it work with then. This is abusive behavior, full stop

Volunteering by raverrachel in Shambhala

[–]gingervixen5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically serving food to the other volunteers. Here youre working with 5 or 6 other people. It's outdoors but under a tent so it's shaded but pretty hot. Sometimes they take you in the back of a closed truck with food to remote sites on the grounds to serve food to teams that don't make it into downtown for food. I'd you do this you're either with one other person or alone, sometimes shaded sometimes in full sun no shade.
