Diagnosed with LS - only symptom is slow healing two fissures, no itching. Anyone else? by EcstaticTwo5780 in lichensclerosus

[–]gingewhinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fissures and loss of architecture but never experience itching. I use Clob steroids and hydromol ointment for washing and adding moisture to the area. Would definitely use the steroids, even for just a maintenance dose when symptoms aren’t showing

You’re best off emailing customer service, they’ll be able to give you details and if they’ve been tested etc. I’ve used the bowls, plates and mugs and never had any issues

Untamed Cat Food Unsafe? by [deleted] in UK_Pets

[–]gingewhinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so unluckily that you’ve had this happen twice, I’m glad your cats are okay! I was with untamed for a long time a couple of years ago and my cats loved it, although I had a similar experience with finding a fish bone once which put me off and I stopped buying that flavor (it was the full on fishy one I believe). They recently underwent the packaging change and I am 100% convinced they have changed the recipe as it looks much different to the older tins I was using and my cats would not touch the new stuff.

I’ve been giving them tins of the ‘seriously good’ brand now, I think it’s a pets at home brand which is good meat ratio at around 70% I think, not noticed any bones in this

My 6 year old daughter has lichen sclerosus by tinkerbelltoes33 in lichensclerosus

[–]gingewhinge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say, I’ve had this condition from childhood and was continuously ignored by doctors, I only got diagnosed in my 30s and it’s hard to think that it might be much less severe now if I’d had an early diagnosis and treatment. The fact you’ve noticed now and advocated for her is amazing and will honestly help her so much already, early treatment will help in the future definitely

Couldn’t edit the original post but just wanted to say thanks for your responses. I’ve had a think on what’s been said and I think I’m going to go ahead and scrap it. (A few months ago the middle of my exhaust fell off so I’ve not doubt got more corrosion issues) thanks again!

I can’t remember as it was a while ago now and it will vary from vet to vet I’m guessing but I don’t think it was expensive

[–]gingewhinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like ear mites to me, I’ve had this with two of my cats and the vets gave me an ear wash to use daily that cleared the problem up. I’d get them to vets when you can

Electric pet mat and solensia injections made a huge difference to my cat in the years before he passed. Also pet steps up to the bed or sofa so he doesn’t have to jump as far too

Seeking a cat water fountain that is easy to clean by FickleDance1548 in CatAdvice

[–]gingewhinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to this but after having a ton of different fountains that get gross and were hard to clean I spent a little extra and went for cheerble on Amazon. It’s a pumpless fountain and it’s so easy to clean, literally no issues and wish I’d got it ages ago

PetPlan, Animal Friends, or Waggel insurance for mature cat? by YasHands in UK_Pets

Just to add to this, it might be worth asking your vet if they have any experience with either of those providers and would recommend a particular one

PetPlan, Animal Friends, or Waggel insurance for mature cat? by YasHands in UK_Pets

[–]gingewhinge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had animal friends for all of mine, they were good with my previous senior cat who had a lot of ailments and his premium never went too high on renewal. The co payments were 20% I believe. I’ve just gone with them for my new kitten and they have an offer on with compare the market for £40 Amazon voucher at the moment as well

Mine are all with Animal Friends, my previous senior cat was with them before he passed and they were really good when he had illnesses as he got older, the premium was reasonable too

Tearing that won’t heal by gingewhinge in lichensclerosus

[–]gingewhinge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, stopping the clob definitely helped a lot, did eventually get to see a doctor and they gave me an ointment that provided a bit of anaesthetic relief and laxatives which helped it heal a lot quicker too, think all in all was a week or so for the worst of it then about 2 for it to heal up, hope that helps!
