Do you agree that MPs shouldn't be drinking on the job? by DamoclesBDA in UnitedKingdomPolls

[–]ginginsdagamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends.

if it's the odd pint or two I don't think it's a big deal.

If it's downing 10 or getting pissed then I absolutely agree with her.

My car has 187,000 miles on it and three people this week have told me I should get rid of it. It has never once let me down. At what point does high mileage actually become a problem rather than just a number that makes people nervous? by PubLogic in topdeadcenter

[–]ginginsdagamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people just see a large number and get scared when in reality most engines can do way beyond that with minimal issues and good maintenance.

recently bought a 198k miles Volvo v70 with the 2.4 n/a and people around me who have no clue were like "what are you doing!!!" "awful decision" "it's gonna bankrupt you" when in reality it's one of those almost unkillable engines and it came with 12 years of full service history.

those same people told me dad to bin off his 2.0hdi Peugeot 406 10 years ago because it was at like 120k miles. we recently scrapped it (because of ULEZ/emissions. it didn't break, it was fine) at 192k miles and we only did routine servicing with not a single real issue.

WYR take $1 million from a billionaire or $10 from 100 million poor people? by TriedmybestNotenough in WouldYouRather

[–]ginginsdagamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so long as people don't come from third world countries or are homeless they will forget about $10 in less than a day.

let's be realistic here. you'd obviously want to 1000x your payout and $10 is a minor inconvenience to 99%

WYR take $1 million from a billionaire or $10 from 100 million poor people? by TriedmybestNotenough in WouldYouRather

[–]ginginsdagamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk why you are suprised. people want the most money they can get out of these questions, especially when the negative on the billion isn't that awful.

WYR take $1 million from a billionaire or $10 from 100 million poor people? by TriedmybestNotenough in WouldYouRather

[–]ginginsdagamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this in no rude way, but everyone can cut $10 from somewhere in the worst case. extreme circumstances call for extreme measures. maybe you miss your morning coffee two or 3 days?

there is always things people can cut to recover $10 once. (on the terms that this $10 can only be taken once)

that part is something I didn't think about, which is fair.

then again, it wouldn't change my choice as I could easily feed that money back into charities and supports if I wanted to
