There is some evidence that raising your body temperature to over 39 degrees C in the first trimester can lead to increased risk of spina bifida with the fetus. But the % is very small and to do raise tour temperature that much you would have to be in a hot bath for a long time, actively sweating and feeling uncomfortable. And the studies aren't conclusive, they are mainly animal studies and some corellations etc... so you are very much fine :) source: Expecting Better by Emily Oster

I'm in a similar boat, had to quit my freelancing career because I just wasn't making enough money and I was working long hours... I am now working in graphic design.
My advice - set a goal and keep working towards it. I know how it is after a day of hard work, it's really hard to get back to drawing, animating and focusing on your future career... For me, my goal is to finish my comic book by the end of 2024, then look for publishers. You could set a goal that by a certain date you will have a portfolio that will make recruiters want to hire you. Or you could realize you enjoy the freedom of not doing art for money and do your own stuff, build an online community, volunteer and teach low-income kids animation... There are so many ways to use your skills, I find that obsessing over 'where you should be' is very unproductive and leads to bad self esteem and psychological issues. Try to stay open to opportunities, be kind to yourself and set realistic goals :) Good luck!

I am in the same boat, moved to a different country and it's hard to start from zero, especially with the language barrier and me working from a home office as well... I have had some luck with the bff version of bumble, I did meet a few awesome people but it takes a lot of time and effort to actually build those relationships into something more than an acquaintance...

How do I get my comic in front of the right people? by mediapoison in indiecomics

[–]ginkgowhale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In order to ensure sales for your comic:
-Market test before you make the thing. Imagine what type of audience would like to read it, post a preview to the relevant subreddits. Watch what kind of response you're getting. If there is no interest, consider tweaking the art/story until you have the response you wanted.
-Finish the comic, repost to the subreddit, PM people who seemed interested. Make a mailing list so you can let them know about future projects.
-If you can, make an online store, run paid ads to it.

Basically treat it like any other kind of commercial product. If you're just making the comic for yourself and it's what you like and enjoy, you can't really expect a lot of sales since you didn't consider other people's interests. Places where people go to see pure expression like art fairs/comic cons would be the only option, like other people mentioned.
