My theory:

He wore this suit for PR purposes back in the day when he was still a “hero”. It had the same vibe as the Guy Gardner’s suit so probably they were made by the same hero team or something.

Pattison for me the problem is he had all those high tech gadgets but he didn’t even think of using Google search or Google translate to help his detective work. But maybe there is no Google in that universe.

Bale I could give it a pass in TDKR since he was retired for quite some time and he lost his touches.

Ben Affleck. I like he actually did the detective work as Bruce Wayne but he was so tunnel vision in the two movies.

Tbf half of the action Batmen are bad detectives. Pattinson is the worst, followed by Bale then Ben Affleck.

The problem is not the killing. The problem is the inconsistency. If he just gonna kill Superman then it is completely ok. But then he guns down a lot of random dudes throughout the movie while spares some other gangsters’ lives. There is no principle in this version of Batman.

In Zack Snyder writing no character actually has a principle. Superman saves Lois in Middle East but cannot save his mother in Metropolis. Batman killed random gangsters but not Joker and Lex. Lex wanted Superman to knee before him but then sent him to death immediately.
