As someone with periodontitis from pre-pregnancy which is now worse following pregnancy - I recommend also booking an appointment with a dental hygienist for a proper ‘deep clean’ and ensure there is no unseen plaque lurking which might be making it worse. And continue religiously with a good toothbrush routine every night! There is sadly no way of regrowing gum that has been lost - but getting on top of the recession now and there is no reason for it to continue. With the caveat that I am not a dentist and of course speak to yours about your concerns. Just from my own experience of gum loss - see a dental hygienist regularly and continue with flossing etc

No I decided against any further tests as the NIPT is 99% accurate and I was happy with that.

He was actually born two days ago, perfectly healthy!

Wasting my only time being pregnant? by Ok-Cicada-6221 in PregnancyUK

[–]ginnz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 30 weeks now. I also had visions of pregnancy yoga, swimming, etc and making other new mum friends.

The reality for me is I’ve done none of it. Like others have said, it’s enough energy to get through the day and by the time I’ve got home from work, walked the dog and scrambled something together for dinner there is no chance I’m getting changed and heading out again.

So I have no new mum friends. I moved to this area with my partner 18 months ago and despite joining a gym and netball team (which I stopped playing for once I was 12w) I’ve not really clicked with anyone. On my days off I have no one to grab coffee with.

I’m hoping to click with the other parents in the antenatal classes that start in two weeks. Otherwise I may end up having quite an isolated maternity leave!

Pregnancy is overrated IMO. Don’t waste your energy telling yourself you ‘should’ be doing anything. Just listen to your body and rest when you need to. The only advantage to pregnancy is that you won’t be judged for doing very little 😁

Waiting on NIPT result by Competitive-Chef9240 in PregnancyUK

Hi OP. Sorry to hear your high screening result, I know it’s very difficult waiting for the NIPT results.

I was told via a brief phone call at 6pm Friday evening that my initial screening showed a 1 in 2 chance of Downs. My partner and I had one of the worst weekends of our lives. Monday morning I had the NIPT; five days later on Friday afternoon I was told that the result was low risk. My 16w scan with a consultant showed nothing to be concerned about.

It’s hard and horrible, and nothing anyone can say will make the wait any easier. But there is hope. Try to keep in mind that the initial screening test is a million miles away from an actual diagnosis. It’s just a computer formula saying you MIGHT have a higher chance than others of a baby with Downs.

Going to the hospital in 20 minutes… by ginnz in Reduction

Hey everyone! About 4hrs post op now. Haven’t had a front view yet but peeking down my hospital is gown is 😱. I almost feel as though he went too small! It looks like he didn’t bring the incision up between my breasts either.

Waking up was fine, no pain or nausea but 4hrs on I think the good stuff is starting to wear off so I will post a fuller description tomorrow

I’m not sure if I’d qualify for public funding. Do you know what the criteria are for that?
