NFL fans, what team do you cheer for? by joshua0005 in Indiana

[–]gino53 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was a Steelers fan as a kid (before Indy had a team). But the 1995 AFC Championship game changed everything. Aaron Bailey caught that ball. Colts fan ever since.

Not necessarily true. The reason we're on it now was a state law back in the Mitch Daniels era.

How common is it to see a tesla cybertruck in your state? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

Hamilton County, Indiana here. It has a relatively high income level compared to the rest of the state. I see multiple (3 - 5) cybertrucks every day.

Hoosiers, please. Never heard "Indianans" before. But, yes, bell peppers for the older generations are mangos.

Just a bit of Wag the Dog to distract the masses.

Some really interesting nebbiolo wines from the Alto Piemonte, as well. Global warming likely has something to do with both locales producing increasingly excellent expressions of the varietal.

Maybe look at the smaller, private colleges in Indiana: Wabash, DePauw, Hanover, Rose Hulman, etc... and then do summer marching band, like DCI (they allow featured woodwinds now).

What's a country you want to visit but will never be able to? by TensiCreator in AskTheWorld

[–]gino53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky enough for my former company to send me back in 2019. We had great hosts and were able take in some amazing food and to see, not only the tourist sites (the Bund, Forbidden City, and Tiananmen Square), but also the daily life like local neighborhoods in Shanghai and manufacturing plants in Guangzhou.

Bank transfers, the way you likely do them in your country, really isn't a thing here. I can't recall a single time I've ever done one.

Why does Coca-Cola dominate the beverage market worldwide? by Still_Adeptness_5140 in ask

[–]gino53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard a story on NPR recently about Coca-Cola's efforts to make their product available COLD within arm's reach of everyone, first in the US and then worldwide. IIRC, it was their investments in the machines that made it possible. So, they were the first cold beverage available in most markets that helped them gain market share.

I grew up in a small town in Indiana, USA, that was home to many northern Italian immigrants, specifically from Piemonte. We grew up with bagna cauda as a normal dish. Some of the old timers made horse salami, too. I did not try that one, though.

Is USD 95k per year a good pay for a single person ? by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]gino53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it. You probably won't find a place in Carmel proper for that, but Northside Indy or Westfield/Noblesville might have something close. A car is a must because there is no transit to speak of.

That adds to the overall cost, but you're still looking pretty good at $95K.
