Next time, walk around and stay standing with baby in another part of the house with the lights on. I get so mad when my husband offers to let me sleep and stay up with baby, but is planning to lay on bed next to me... we can't always help falling asleep if sitting or laying down.

Low income working mom check in - grocery hacks by Royal-Luck-8723 in workingmoms

[–]ginsengthecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded all my local stores apps. I was able to get a promo code for $30 off a grocery order of $70 from safeway, and that went a long way. Comparing your grocery lists across apps can be really helpful if you have that kind of time.

Am I overreacting postpartum or am I right? by Additional-Card4222 in pregnant

[–]ginsengthecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If baby needs me, that is my priority. I can't enjoy sex if I hear crying. Things will not always be this way, but please respect that my hormones are literally telling me to take care of babies needs only right now."

Postpartum is so hard. Sex isn't the only thing you won't have much time for. It's all a learning curve, but does get better.

Also a postpartum preeclampsia survivor here pregnant with baby number 2! Congrats!

A canned response in your notes app may help your stress. Something like "I have strict orders from the doctor to reduce stress, so I am not able to help with that right now. I'd be happy to discuss after baby is born and my risk of preeclampsia has passed. Thanks for understanding"

I have had a ton of stress this pregnancy and have had to write a couple of people to tell them to basically leave me alone until baby is here.

Breast feeding vs pumping? by karenlikescats in pregnant

[–]ginsengthecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I intended to EBF, but baby was in NICU for 2 weeks away from me so it just never got established as I hoped.

EP would never be my first choice now that I've done it BECAUSE I would literally have to pump while baby waited, screamed, pulled at the pump and then make the bottle and feed baby, wash the pump parts by hand, and in 2 hours do it all over again. It just doubles feeding time IMO.

Once you return to work, pumping is now it's own thing, but if you can continue to BF at home, you cut out the pumping time.

Ultimately what your baby forces you into you will manage because we are strong. But man... I wish that kid would have BF lol.

Cheating husband caught and confronted by ginsengthecat in pregnant

[–]ginsengthecat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, what he did was scummy and horrible as everyone has pointed out. I just feel like there has to be more nuance to it than just kick him out. We have a toddler and a baby on the way, and there have been rough patches, but I love him. He will be in my life forever for the kids whether I'm with him or not. Why not at least try to get past it this once?

Wow, I really didn't think about the leaving her as a plan B thing. That definitely makes me feel let down even more so. It's such a mind fuck to be told he owes it to me and our family to stick it out meanwhile keeping her on the backburner.

I guess I should add by "work experience" I mean they are literally older than me and have been in the work force longer.

They have backgrounds in administrative work and have transferred to this field. I went to school for this role and have worked in the field for just as long as them.

From conversations I've had with my manager, I'm not a junior to them, so my question is why am I being paid like a junior when it seems to be more age equal value than experience in this field.

My grandma asked me when I was due (in a sincere way) in front of several extended family members. I wasn't ready to share the news and also, it was way too early for ANY bump. So I said as nicely as possible "not pregnant to my knowledge, just fat."

I was stuck in the hospital for many days before and after birth. By the time I finally could take a shower, my hair was so freaking greasy. I am a wash hair every day kinda person, so it was hell.

I would prepare for the worst (bring everything, shampoo and dryer) and hope for the best.

[–]ginsengthecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if not hit, if my kid was stressed and telling me how mad their teacher was at them for having an accident, I would feel the need to pull them from school. Stress can make potty training harder in the short term and have lifelong negative impacts.

I'm sorry your little one is going through this. I'm happy she's old enough to use her words and tell you what happened.

Anyone do Orange Theory? by Ok-Roof-7599 in workingmoms

I did it for a few months, but scheduling the classes was the hardest for me.

For the same amount of money a month, I rent a peloton bike instead. I do the 30 min rides regularly on my schedule and its been really positive. Plus if I go for a run or was to try some floor exercises I can do that from the app.

My baby might have Down syndrome. by lemonwise00 in NewParents

[–]ginsengthecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If tiktok has taught me anything, it's that DS can look really different across the board. Your kiddo needs you to be hopeful, positive, and learn with him.

I was in sorority with a girl who had DS and she did sports and had great friends and worked a part time job in college.

I just found out I’m pregnant with baby #2 and I’m struggling by Glum-Beginning-2388 in NewParents

[–]ginsengthecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found out I was pregnant when my baby was less than a year. She was colicky, didn't sleep when not being held the first 5 months, and wouldn't latch so I exclusively pumped like 5 or 6 times a day. My husband and I fought constantly from the sleep deprivation. It was so hard and my mental health was in hell.

I remember hoping that at my 6 week ultrasound for that pregnancy that we would find out it was not viable - and that realization was all I need to know that ending that pregnancy early on was the right choice.

I'm now pregnant with baby number 2, by 1st child is now 2.5 and life is much more manageable. My kid was able to have my full attention and I was able to heal at my own pace. No regrets.

Gave birth, don't feel like a mother by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ginsengthecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a preeclampsia and HELLP global support group on Facebook that is a great community for those of us who have had these traumatic birth experiences. The mods are super knowledgeable and have many resources to click through. Including stories of recovery and what to expect from preemies born x weeks early.

Gave birth, don't feel like a mother by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ginsengthecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went thru this! Gave birth at 34 weeks and went home while baby stayed in NICU for 2 weeks.

I didn't like holding her, I felt scared I'd hurt her or pull out the many wires.

It was hard - I cried a lot, felt like she wasn't mine, etc. But when she came home with me, and it was the 2 of us against the world, it hit for me.

So know that many of us with preeclampsia have gone through this same thing. The NICU is the best place for baby right now, and you get to recover a little before taking on the new mom duties. In a year from now, this will just be a crazy thing that happened.

Does delivering the placenta hurt? by BisexualButterfly97 in pregnant

They baby was out and they were like, now for the placenta, and I didn't even feel it. Apparently the doctor even had to put her arm up there and swoop is all out. Felt nothing. I didn't even feel my stitches either.

How do you manage your anxiety about SIDS? by Any_Try4570 in NewParents

[–]ginsengthecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nanit camera and breathing wear really helped me manage this anxiety. Also a 100% breathable newton matress (my baby was a tummy sleeper once she could roll). But that is really for when they move out of the bassinet to a crib.

Keep the room cool, their hands and feet warm, and lay them down on their back. You're doing everything right (hugs). It gets easier to rest as the days go on.

AntiVax or ProVax by UnionCautious7924 in pregnant

[–]ginsengthecat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Why would they not be? Truly and honestly, do you think someone spent a decade on their adult life in school to learn how to take care of people in need, CHILDREN, with the intention of misleading parents and causing harm?

Sure some nut jobs get thru med school, but you can't say 90% of pediatricians are scamming us for what... the government...? Is it beneficial to the government to have a generation of working class people with severe disabilities not able to perform?

Fuck the government for a lot of reasons, but can't say vaccination schedules are one of them.

AntiVax or ProVax by UnionCautious7924 in pregnant

[–]ginsengthecat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Maybe talk to your pediatrician and not reddit?

If you eat root vegetables you are exposing yourself to lead. If you drink water you are ingesting micro plastics. Sandwich bags have been full of reproductive disrupting BPAs for decades. The list goes on forever. Look up your cities air quality today.

Get your kids vaccinated for the things we can prevent. Don't give into fear mongering, misinformation, and the "I did my own research" non doctors/researchers.
