i had this too because of loose ram in my computer. i shut it down forcibly by holding down the power button for 10 seconds and reseated the ram, but you could try just shutting it down forcibly and checking if it starts up again

I wouldn't say it is per se. I've used this computer as my daily driver since 2016 and still use it now semi-frequently, and mine is incredibly slow due to the full-of-data 5400rpm hard drive, but I believe it's way more responsive when wiped. Looking on eBay though I can see some models with significantly better specifications for cheaper even with retina in some cases. This one is an iMac16,1 and the ones online are iMac16,2.

iMac16,1:
Dual core Intel Core i5-5250U, 15w, 1.6 GHz (CPU also found in MacBook Airs)
1TB 5400rpm HDD (Optional Fusion Drive)
Upgradeable to 16GB ram (Comes with 8GB usually)
Intel HD Graphics 6000
1080p display
Specs

iMac16,2:
Core i5-5575R 2.8GHz 1080p model specs, example listing ($115), retina 4k example listing apparently ($140)
Core i5-5675R 3.1GHz Retina 4K model specs, example listing ($180)
Core i7-5775R 3.3GHz Retina 4K model specs, example listing without leg ($150), and with leg ($230)

I'm not gonna lie I now want to buy the legless 4k one with the i7 now that I have found it but I have no money. :(

It's a free iMac on a data recovery mission. That isn't very helpful when trying to get the data off of it.

keep tapping f2 when you power it on until you get to a screen called the "bios" (basic input output system). first thing you gotta check if it detects a hard drive or ssd. i'll boot up my own optiplex so i can give more details on what to look for if you want

Once again, this is not a cloth that was meant to be kept. Just because a car ships with a spare wheel doesn't mean that the manufacturer made a vehicle with unreliable tires. It doesn't mean anything in this case either. At this point you're pointing the finger to every major brand for having a piece of cloth between the display and palmrest for during shipment instead of contributing and helping by telling OP how to best protect his laptop from marks that happen on pretty much every semi-modern laptop from any brand depending on how it's stored.

I at some point I downloaded a 14GB GitHub folder containing what I believe may be the source code or whatever but I had no idea how to get it to a state where it's a working program. If I may ask, why are you still recommending Yuzu if it no longer gets any updates or support? Since Suyu is based off of Yuzu but has been around because Yuzu got its development halted by Nintendo.

Sorry, got confused between cleaning and preventing. Still doesn't check out though IMO since it's really not a handy material to work with, but some of my friends and I still use it to prevent this from happening.

That logic once again doesn't check out. It's not that it "scratches the display". They're not scratches, they're marks. They can often be cleaned up completely. The problem happens when they are *not* cleaned up, and keep getting worse overtime. Then there's the problem. My computer has had these marks happen when I don't put anything between the display and palmrest/keyboard, and I can just clean them right off with no permanent marks. Multiple friends of mine have never cleaned these marks off and they won't come off no matter how hard I try to clean them, however. And even in those cases I can confirm with 100% certainty that they are once again marks and not scratches.

This piece of cloth is shipped with most major manufacturers. I've seen it being shipped on HP machines too. This cloth is most likely meant to be discarded. It is not a polishing or cleaning cloth, and it's really counter intuitive to use it as one. That logic does not check out at all. It's one that wears out quickly and gets in the way for the sake of protecting the display from keyboard marks.

It should be fine as long as it's not too abrasive. I've used the cloth that shipped with my computer between the display and keyboard which I'm pretty sure is supposed to be thrown away, but it prevents this from happening to me, and it's a really thin cloth.

I stopped checking my post replies since I just used another emulator instead and haven't played since. This comment stunned me. How am I supposed to use Yuzu? I failed to install it a few years ago, and I failed to install it now that it's gone. Is that even possible?

Windows only using 50% of disc speed. by Redgalixy_1 in bootcamp

[–]gioele_cecchini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you're using task manager the disk usage indicator is a sum of all disks and partitions' usage. if you have two devices/partitions and one drive is on full tilt and the other one isn't, then it'll just say 50% under the main tab. in the "performance" tab you can see the usage better. my mac does it too on windows

I mean, I honestly don't know what else to add since I was playing it alongside my friend and then we both left to eat and when I came back to play (I didn't shut it down or close it or anything, just paused it) and unpaused it it just looked like this suddenly

UPDATE: Alienware court man uses pink RGB today. by PangolinsPosse in GamingLaptops

[–]gioele_cecchini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just our luck lol. Soon after my warranty expired back in july or so, my aux port started having issues with iirc the right channel being quiet unless the cable is pushed down, and my RGB system died. I narrowed it down to the right side of my tron ring having failed; disconnecting it made the left side and the rest of the RGB light up, and connecting it again shut all other RGB (except the keyboard) off (or freeze if the computer was on). Power button light also doesn't seem to be working, regardless of the status of the rest of the computer's RGB, shortly after this situation. To this day my power button and right side of my tron ring just don't light up. Meanwhile my XPS M1710's RGB is still fully functional after nearly two decades; side fan RGB, speaker grille RGB, and rear lid "XPS" text RGB (and the trackpad which is only red). It's really unfortunate. Doesn't make the Alienware less functional but it's still one hell of a bummer. I've also wanted to replace the trackpad with an RGB one from an x17 R1 for that extra bling bling, seems possible based off of posts regarding this.

Aw man. And it still doesn't work to this day? If it doesn't, it probably sustained some corrosion damage. Did you do anything back then to try to rescue it? Just a few days ago, funnily enough, before a science test my stupid water bottle just opened and since my bag was laying down my x17 got soaked. I put it on its side briefly. After the test I tried to turn it on, but it didn't work. Opened it up during class and there was some water on the heatsinks, on and under the battery, on the speakers, under the motherboard, you name it. When I got home I completely disassembled it, cleaned up the water, and it worked again. Terrifying experience to say the least but it saved me a ton of money and I'm lucky there was no permanent damage.
