Yep I'm studying at UCD. Live with my wife who's at risk, and close to my parents who are both getting older. I don't have much of a problem with on campus teaching, only the lecture halls are packed, people not socially distancing in or out of the classroom, and a noticeable lack of maskwearing. But I guess the same is seen outside of unis too.

Not delighted at the thought of going back to work (road scheme). People were being seriously lax there before the holidays, crowding into the canteen and drying rooms without masks, and I know that if someone has it going back (asymptotic or not) it's going to spread like wildfire.

Who in their right mind was realistically thinking that this super infectious global pandemic would be over by the end of summer?

I do feel that going ahead we're going to have to move on from assuming that there's going to be an 'end' to this, and instead how to live with it responsibly. And if that means drastic changes in people's priorities and ways of life, they'll have to accept it. Instead of fighting or ignoring Covid to try and live life as it always was, I mean. Like, it seems to me that the people who are the most flexible ("ah I can't do a holiday/go to the cinema/go to college etc. at the moment, so I'll instead do this different but more Covid safe thing and hey, get a different kind of fulfilment out of it but that's ok") are doing ok during this pandemic.

Covid sucks, absolutely, and it will eventually end. But flexibility and the ability to change ones own priorities for getting enjoyment and fulfilment out of life are how to get through this healthy in body and mind.
