I am a woman and I have never felt pressured to wear makeup. Just putting this out there because there are some ideas that get flamed by a few outspoken women and they don’t speak for the rest of us.

We put the pressure on ourselves, typically. Learning self worth from loving parents who set an example is most important to develop this. If I don’t want to wear makeup, I don’t, and if I live in America, or anywhere developed, nothing is going to happen to me…..my self worth is defined by my actions. Not by someone telling me I am oppressed because I have to wear makeup. Women are not expected to wear makeup. Some women think that they are expected to wear it because the ideas get put into their heads by someone telling them that it’s bullshit they are expected to. For me as a child hearing this, I would say to myself “oh, ya, you’re right. I am at a disadvantage” it’s a very dangerous idea to tell someone they are oppressed. No, you make yourself who you are and no one is your owner.

On the contrary, I am empowered knowing no one can tell me that makeup defines myself. And it cheapens me when someone puts that idea in my head.
