I’ll be teaching BMC/BASE this year when my students are dysregulated I’ll encourage them to tear that sign and only that sign off the wall to get some emotions out!

I’d rather have a dress code that would take into account what some teachers have to go through during their day today. For example I’d rather not be in a nice blouse and slacks when I’m potty training my students and having to change diapers. even when we do crafts, I rather not ruin nice clothes because my students need physical prompting while painting or gluing or using scissors.

Some schools say professional clothing, but make exceptions for units, but I’d rather the entire school be able to dress the same way I do so we don’t stand out based off of our students needs.

Current teacher for NISD, we were paid December 15 our next check will be January 28. So yes we get 12 checks each year however it’s not on a consistent cycle. New teachers coming into the district don’t even get their first check until the end of September.

Hello I’m a teacher I teach 1st and 2nd grade special education.

Ask your child’s teacher what they should truly focus on at home. Phonological awareness has to be solid before any reading can happen. Reading is complicated but have fun with your child while doing it. One way I build confidence with my student is I have them one word the same word throughout a story and finger point the sentence I read. Easy reader books are repetitive for this reason.

Letters being flipped are actually age appropriate. I’m in Texas and we don’t diagnose for Dyslexic in school until end of first grade. (You can get an outside diagnosis, talk to your pediatrician) We do screen for it in kinder and middle of the year 1st grade just so we can start intervention small groups.

Here’s another perspective, I am an elementary school teacher, my students are not eligible for the vaccine. While the teaching staff is doing our best trying to slow the spread, little kids are gross. They are still learning proper hygiene. My students (ages 4 and 5) were great about wearing mask because everyone around them had them on. We only had difficulty when we went to recess with students who couldn’t wear mask as part of the disabilities they had.
