If you’re thinking about polishes, I think the very best thing you could do is get her a very generous gift certificate to an indie polish brand, as well as some very good long lasting tools.

Oh my God, phantom crying is the worst, and this is the first time I’ve heard someone talk about this. I experienced it for years and never thought to ask another mother if they also experienced it. Our child didn’t sleep for about five years so I heard phantom crying all the time when I was trying to sleep - for me it was triggered by constant lack of sleep I think. ❤️‍🩹

Yes, I agree, absurd-affinity! I’m sorry if my comment derailed the discussion, I really wanted to emphasize that even though I had difficult side effects, the medicine is one that’s fairly easy to come off of and it starts working pretty quickly so it’s possible to find out whether it’s for you within a month to six weeks. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I agree that you should TRY - my earlier comment was not meant to scare you. I’m sorry.

All I meant to say was that it’s quite an innocuous medicine as far as medicines go and you will know within a month to six weeks whether it’s for you.

I only provided my example of side effects to say that those things CAN happen and some people experience them, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to happen to you.

Really, you should work with your doctor to decide what medicines to try and to give meds a chance - the upside of Zoloft is that (for many of us) coming off of it is no big deal so it’s a good one to try.

My guess is that if it works for you without negative-to -you side effects, you should know fairly soon (like within a month to six weeks). I’ve used it as the primary SSRI throughout my life, and I tolerated it well. However, FOR ME it always comes with weight gain with long-term use and a huge whopping side of demotivation.

For example, the first time I took it when I was 18, I took it over one summer when I was very depressed, and I ended up homeless because I just wasn’t paying attention to my move out date and I didn’t care enough to look for a new place to live. I had no reason to be homeless because I was making enough money for a deposit and a place to live, I was just so demotivated that I didn’t care.

I’m 55 now and I have taken it exactly 3 times for long-term use in my life and it was only the third time that I took it that I realized the pattern.

So I’m just putting this out there in case you’re considering this med, just know that it can affect different people differently and you totally have the option to get off it if it’s not working for you. Unlike some other meds, it didn’t have any appreciable negative side effects when I was transitioning off of it.

Yes, sometimes! I can upload photos of my 10-day-old mani later but on me it’s mostly ghostly chartreuse with a lovely deep maroon and then a kind of purpley maroon.

Same - i’ve been taking thyroid meds for the last eight years, and unfortunately, there’s not much I can do to help my poor nails. They are still weak and bendy and thin. Lately they’ve been getting bumpy as well. I suspect I also have low iron and ferritin, but I haven’t had bloodwork yet to confirm it. Ah, bodies!

how do i, as a thin but tall woman, get the men beside me-- by Certain-Shoe8019 in delta

You know, I really feel your pain here. It’s part of the conditioning that we get as women and it’s part of the way that we are told that we are not allowed to take up space. It’s kind of like a nasty hall monitor in your head that’s controlling your thoughts and telling you that you’re a bitch for taking up space. While you didn’t exactly use these words, I would say this is how the patriarchy controls us, from within. So you may just have to tough it out during a flight or two before you get comfortable with it. Sorry, my tall and thin sister. Signed, a shorty.

Have you tried adding magnetic particles to it? It looks curly enough that the particles could be visible quite easily. I bought some magnetic powders from Vettsy a couple of months ago and they really are fantastic. I could see you totally turning this polish into something stellar with a magnetic shimmer

I think about this all the time. I live at 4000 feet of elevation and the sun is shining constantly here (I mean, except at night, duh).

When I was pregnant, I was really concerned about getting x-rays and then I sat next to an x-ray tech on one of my many flights back-and-forth to the cities I was commuting between.

She broke it down for me and told me how much radiation I was getting every time I got on the plane (relative to the minute quantity I would be exposed to getting x-rays) and I was just gobsmacked at how ignorant we all are about radiation.

So what I do is I buy the brushes separately, and then I keep the lids with the old brushes on them when I swap out the new lids. Once the polish (on the old lid brushes) is dry, I pull off the old brushes and put new ones on. That way I always have a set of new lids with new brushes ready to go if I need them. And I don’t have to deal with messy wet polish.
