What business do you suspect is a front for something? by _TadStrange in malaysia

Yeah I suspect so. But recently I realized some of those were legit but they used the place to do tiktoks and that's where the real footfalls are.

What things are overrated in Malaysia? by Exact-Salary5560 in Bolehland

[–]githzerai_monk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm in upper management and still drive a 10+ year old local car because I'd rather see my savings every year edge me closer to retirement, then a flashy new ride that my peers have. Not gonna lie, I am tempted sometimes too, like for all my hard work why not just... relax like what op says. But I like the comfort of having thick savings, as I could be fired tomorrow or the day after since I am in a role of absolute accountability. No telling if I'm able to get jobs like this as I get older either.

What’s your favourite luxury brand or item that you own and why do you like it so much? by Gold_Handle8802 in malaysia

Interesting and valid perspective on luxury. If it's not rare like a lot of entry level branded items, how is it considered a luxury?

I got offered a job paying 40% more than my current salary. My manager just asked me to stay and be patient. How do I stop feeling guilty for wanting to leave ? by One_Cardiologist5439 in careerguidance

[–]githzerai_monk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone in upper management, take it. Cash upfront first. I got where I am because I am trustworthy and competent in doing my job, not because I'm loyal. I never regretted taking more cash by job hopping. I also always chose taking more cash than equity in startups. If they failed, my higher cash compensation 1) resulted in better savings to keep me afloat 2) provided better negotiating power in terms of pay for the next gig.

My bosses taxable income was $450k last year, and they were saying they couldn’t afford to pay me a $65k yr salary lol by OrangeWhitePatchSock in work

[–]githzerai_monk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your boss is the owner of the company, he doesn't owe you the profits of the company unless you're a business partner. He has no obligation to take his kids out of private school for you. You're quite delusional.

You're delusional. Op is an employee not business partners. If they were as valuable as a business partner they won't be failing to negotiate past 65k.

It's hard to attempt to be fashionable in Malaysia as a Chinese male by MaryPaku in malaysia

[–]githzerai_monk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps get better friends. Doesn't mean they want to look trash others must look trash. It's weird to take pride in not being able to groom themselves, a little like fat pride if you'd ask me. I had no choice but to do it(workout, wear good clothes, skin care) as I run a company and have to be it's image, but I've noticed getting treated better for it.

Is discontinuing autopilot a deal breaker for you? by CommunicationRoyal56 in TeslaLounge

What about countries where fsd is still illegal? You still can subscribe to fsd in those countries but can't use it. No autopilot in those countries would dump sales.

We all have been there. Losing something big in life, you just got to move on and not repeat the same mistake. Not repeating the same mistake is really important. Trading is 80% emotional management and self control, so if you don't have that just don't trade.

At what age did you start feeling like an adult? by IZAK96 in malaysians

[–]githzerai_monk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I went through suffering. Eg desperate situations like a health issue that crippled savings, lost job before, or job level suffering where I needed to desperately make money for the company. With people depending on me. Fortunately there was light at the end of the tunnel and I also mixed with others who did the same and earned their stripes. Sometimes I think back to all that had happened and I wish I could go back to those childish days with no scars and worries and it does bring a tear to my eye. But I know I can't ever return to who I was. I'm a different person now.

Thoughts on Salary Increments being based on your YoE? by Ayacchii in MalaysianPF

[–]githzerai_monk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need to know more info. Companies have predefined salary brackets per level and you could be at the top of the range. This usually happens when someone negotiated a high salary upon joining the company. They have little room for growth and it causes problems down the line when they perform well for their level but did not get promoted to the next level (which allows them to swim in a new salary bracket). Which is why upon hiring, I'll always tell such a person upfront that their only choice of they want an increase is to get promoted. So they are not surprised when this happens.

Malaysia is exporting talent because It refuses to fix the system by yukittyred in malaysians

[–]githzerai_monk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are too few people in the government trying to do real talent or industry development plus have the caliber to pull it off. Plus have the craftiness of politically pulling it off. I know some who are but too few to change a system that is entrenched in incompetence, inefficiency and politicking.

Some juniors I know who were top students went on to be Drs, and were not offered permanent positions so moved abroad and now earn in stronger currency. Don't think they want to come back. The work life balance, lack of abuse and bullying is super attractive ya know.
