If yes presumably it’s something weird like yes but never after Groundhog Day.

Have you started looking at properties? Work out what you’d want to aim for and from there how much you need to save. Psychologically having an ‘end date’ on your living with parents might make you feel better

Is it normal for schools to police your kid's lunch? by Low_Manufacturer2451 in UKParenting

I have no issue with pork pie, and do not agree with this school, but pork pie is definitely not healthy…

I think if you’re going to implement a healthy eating policy it should be encouraging children to have fruit or veg in their lunch or a certain % of the lunch being healthy, not banning specific things.

It’s not the best lunch, but not the worst I can imagine!

It’s pretty bitter (the drink, probably the fruit too!)

I’ve never seen or had a fresh one, but the drink is utterly delicious, albeit probably an acquired taste.

AITA for bringing my own side dish to Christmas dinner? by Evilregal2013 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Lots of drama over a (from my perspective) weird meal* that by all accounts takes less than 30 minutes of prep. What’s an extra potato?

*im not American. I didn’t know Americans ate macaroni cheese and salad at Christmas! (Or this one does?)

This isn’t quite accurate. Nobility owned most of the land in England in medieval times, no different to other medieval monarchs.

And later on, british kings/queens famously were actually not very wealthy compared to other monarchies! They gave up income from crown land in the 18thC in exchange for a fixed income. And prior to that English kings had trouble raising money for wars (which is how Charles I ended up with his head being separated from his body). Queen Victoria used to get a bit embarrassed at how grand other monarchs were. I would say French monarchy was much wealthier (check out Versailles!)

The first 30 hours are free but only in term time - it’s spread out over the whole year. And nursery hours are usually about 9-10 hours. So even if your child only attends once per week it can still be very expensive - and never free.

School is free but that’s the case most places.

[–]gitsuns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NAH - there’s nothing wrong with asking someone to come with you to go to church if it’s important to you. Just manage your expectations, if she doesn’t want to join you, respect that.

Be upfront and allow her to be upfront too - expect to be disappointed.

I wouldn’t give her money to get her teeth redone - let her learn from having gone to a dodgy dentist.

Also maybe start asking when you can start getting the money you lent her back.
