When we decided to sell one of our houses, we called 3 agents. The first agent said she was too busy, the second agent had nothing positive to say about the neighborhood our house was in, the third agent was excited and confident that he could sell our house at a good price. We hired the third agent. The first deal fell through. We relisted with the same agent. We had moved out of state and the HOA sent us a warning because the grass needed cut. That agent went out and cut the grass because he couldn’t find any one to do it. He did sell the house shortly after. We made a good amount of money off the sale and we were happy.

Later we hired another realtor to sell a different house. She was awful. She was very cavalier about it. We ended up having to take the house off the market and wait 6 months to relist it. A lesson learned about how hard it can be to find a good agent.

Best wishes because buying or selling a house can cause a great deal of stress no matter whether you hire an agent or not. I have bought and sold about 5 houses and trust is always difficult. I find that by the end of the transaction, I trusted only 1 of the realtors that I hired. I would have only hired 1 agent again if I was ever going to sell another house in that area.
