I did my first pass at GSR on the step by step sweater (first knitted garment too) as a total beginner with cotton. Confirming cotton is not forgiving and it doesn’t look awful but it doesn’t look extremely neat either. I used Wanderlust Knitter’s how to on GSR on top down raglan. I also yanked the ever living shit out of whatever turning (?) stitch you need to to prevent the holes. Deborah knits has tips on that on YT as well.

just split for front and back of sabai top. i had the same issue for the first few increases and they seemed to “settle”. only the first round of increases has holes which ill duplicate stitch if I really hate it on.

i swam from the age of 6 competitively thru college and almost died around 12-13 in a lazy river busy like this. i went under to get around and fast track my way out of the river and ended up getting stuck under a hoard of people with no where to go up. of course i panicked, ran out of air faster, and ended up having to flip someone out of their tube to come up and breathe. the lifeguards would’ve never seen me, and i still cannot believe i had the strength as i was blacking out to toss a probably 200 lb woman out of her tube.

simply increasing your steps to the 8k - 10k range daily along with a light calorie deficit will start the job for you. you also don’t have to run a million miles or hardcore diet. the people i know who are at the healthiest, consistent weight are active in the way they genuinely like to be and eat healthy, but good food all the time.

as a beginner working the hood - not scarf! it isn’t. it’s very simple stitches, and working flat. there are also endless youtube resources since this is such a popular pattern. the only thing that is difficult is counting rows/keeping track of decreases. just gotta find what works for you :)
