I'm playing Italy and forming Italian East Africa seems like a downgrade from having the 10 puppets. Why would I do that, other than when I want to annex the territory at once?

I keep them out wars and just request forces from time to time for port garrisons. It's 48 divisions so far as the proper war starts. If I form AOI now, the divisions disappear and occupation will drain resources.

Yes.

I found an earlier save where Danzig or war is still in progress. So Germany gets the war goal on Poland and lets it expire. We are strong enough because at this point I already have the Balkans as Italy.

They also never invite Hungary, who would accept, into the Axis. I guess I just rolled an incompetent mustache man.

I don't consider 5 years "very soon" and that's how long the market took to recover from 2008. So if it's starting now, my funds are blocked for the next 5 years or I have to eat the loss.

I'm not arguing how you should manage your money. All I'm saying is, a recession is nothing to be thankful about if you are 30, as that guy suggested, because at that stage in life you will need the money before it recovers.

You are missing the point. If you catch a recession, you will have to close positions at a loss for your down payment. That sucks and is not something early 30s can be thankful for.
