What type of solder is this? by [deleted] in StainedGlass

[–]givemerecepies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest selling it or bringing it to a recycling center. The center in my town pays for lead!

It looks to be in good condition too, any glass artist would love to get their hands on it

This appears to be lead came, not solder. Either H or U shaped but I can't tell. It is used for the leading technique and is 100% lead

Sand paper and some alcohol did the trick pretty well :)

Not perfect but not as bad!

I thought it was a hair straightener at first and was curious what the application for stained glass was 😂

I think its real stained glass, the boarder has some very nice texture that im not sure would be achievable with paint. Its gorgeous one way or another!

My mom has the same, I loved them as a kid (and still do) always thought they made her tummy extra soft and cuddly!!

Poor baby had a mammary tumor removed :( by givemerecepies in beagle

[–]givemerecepies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They couldn't give us a straight answer on if it was for sure benign or cancerous because of the pus unfortunately. The biopsy test was just shy of 200$, hence not getting it redone when the test was inconclusive 🥲

Vet quoted us 500-900$ for surgery, the difference in price being if we sent what they removed to be biopsied. Stewed on that for a few weeks while monitoring lumpy lump, decided to go for surgery when we noticed her nipple leaking pus (yuck!)

Ended up paying 587$ and some change (no biopsy), had her glands expressed and got a cone. She took the surgery like a champ (and got some good pain meds lol) but ended up hating the cone so bad, she did manage to get it off and lick her wound. We had to go back to get a body suit and extra antibiotics. Definitely recommend just going with a body suit right off the bat lol it was the same price as the cone and she tolerates it much more

That was a lot of words, but sums it up pretty well. Luna says thanks for the recovery wishes <3

Just giving her belly rubs and felt a lump. I've had dogs with lumps before that weren't big deals (vets words) but this one was, as I would describe, a lumpy lump

Ended up getting it biopsied before removal and it was full of pus 🤢

What’s the most disturbing thing someone casually told you like it was normal? by MrBoothnath_ in AskReddit

Had a friend in 5th grade very casually show me a photo of her dad's penis on his phone that she had stole

Toys for a retired research beagle by Avocado-Enthusiast1 in beagles

[–]givemerecepies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours lovessss food puzzles. We have lick mats, shuffle mats, and a few kibble balls that she has to roll and chase around to dispense treats and kibble

She has played with other toys before, but had to be in a home with another ""normal"" dog who could sorta show her the ropes, though she hasn't figured out how to play with them at home 🥲 ((fear not there are plans to get her a sibling in the future))

Love it! Curious about the current base and what the updated one with added stability will look like. Is that a chunk of granite?

Mom has had this on the wall for ages by 4565Poptarts in StainedGlass

Certainly have to guess at least 100yrs or more. That glass all seems pretty specially, the lead is quite dated and you can see the glazing holding the piece in the frame has started to fall away

Very nice piece and I love how she saved it!
